Introducing Higo no Miraiba by Higo Bank

Hello everyone! It’s Aikero, your Sarukuma writer.

Today I’m taking you to Kasuga, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City, to a brand-new spot called
【Higo no Miraiba by Higo Bank】.
Newly opened on August 29, 2025, on the 6th floor of Amu Plaza Kumamoto!

There’s a dedicated kids’ area filled with picture books and toys, so little ones can play happily while grown-ups enjoy a relaxing break (^^)/

You can also use it as a study or co-working space — perfect for getting some work done!
It’s a fresh, welcoming space that makes Higo Bank feel a little more familiar.
You’ll find it on the 6th floor of Amu Plaza Kumamoto,
tucked between Mawaru Sushi Mekkemon and Aso Hanabishi.
You can also walk in directly from Metro Bookstore, which sits on the same floor.
Here’s what the inside looks like.
The space is divided into three main areas.
The first is the “Asobiba” — a kids’ play area with picture books, children’s books, and toys.
Next is the “Ikoiba” — a cozy cafe-style lounge.
If you’d like to learn about Higo Bank’s products or run financial simulations, just ask one of the friendly staff members.
And finally, the “Manabiba” — a study and co-working zone.
With power outlets and free Wi-Fi available throughout, it’s a wonderful place to catch up on work or studies without distractions.
There’s even a Higo Bank ATM on-site.
Need cash? You can take care of it right here!
Be sure to keep an eye out for ongoing campaigns and special events!

The picture-book storytelling sessions are run in collaboration with Metro Bookstore.

What Makes Higo no Miraiba by Higo Bank Special

Now let’s check it out for ourselves!
At the reception, simply tell the staff which plan and seating you’d like, then complete your payment.
During my visit, there was a special campaign offering free entry in exchange for filling out a survey or registering on the app, so I got in for free♫
Your check-in card shows your start time.
Since stays are limited to 2 hours, just keep an eye on your exit time.
The cup type changes depending on whether you choose iced or hot, and you can even choose whether or not to include ice.
After pouring your drink, just head to your seat and enjoy the next 2 hours however you like!
The kids’ Asobiba is full of fun things to keep little ones happily entertained!
There’s a play kitchen perfect for cooking pretend meals or running a make-believe shop.
Beneath the TV, there are even pretend-money slips for the kids to use during play.
Now that’s authentic!
There are coloring books and sugoroku (Japanese-style board games) too!
Why not join in and play with your kids?
There’s also a wonderful collection of money-themed books, written for everyone from toddlers to elementary and middle schoolers!
Money touches our daily lives, yet there’s so much we only learn about as adults.
If you’re not sure where to start when teaching your child about finances, the books here might give you both something valuable to learn together.
There are tables for spreading out toys or settling in with a book — making it a comfortable space for kids to enjoy.
With its little play area and family-friendly features, Higo no Miraiba is a wonderful spot for parents and kids alike.
But why exactly did Higo Bank create a place like this? Let’s find out.

Higo no Miraiba
Higo no Miraiba
Banks tend to feel a bit formal and intimidating, don’t they? Especially for younger people, there’s often very little day-to-day connection with banks.

Aikero
Aikero
Exactly! I can withdraw money from the ATM, so unless I have something specific to do, I rarely visit a bank.

It’s wonderful that there’s a kids’ play area and family events too — it makes it so much easier to drop by with little ones.

Thank you so much! We also host kid-friendly events that teach about financial troubles, keeping an allowance book, and other practical money topics — all in a fun, game-like format.

Honestly, I’m still figuring out how to teach my own kids about money… Just knowing it’s hosted by a bank makes me want to sign up!
Will these events keep happening?
