Event Report: Mama-Baby — A Joyful Day for Moms and Babies in Kumamoto
2025.07.29

Mama-Baby Event Report

Under bright, refreshing skies, families poured in to enjoy our “Mama-Baby” event — a special day created with one wish in mind: to give hardworking moms a chance to truly relax and recharge.
Returning to the Mashiki Town Reconstruction Community Center “Nijiiro” for the first time since our “Hapi-Kuma” event, we were greeted with cheerful voices saying, “We’ve been waiting for this!” Here’s our recap of a day overflowing with smiles.
Event Highlights
The event kicked off with an energetic kids’ dance performance by STUDIO W/Dance Site Lee, a local Mashiki-based dance studio.
The talented kids danced to popular hit songs and lit up the entire venue!
Inside, little ones gathered for a beloved storytime and singalong session.
Fuu-chan’s warm, gentle voice set the perfect mood for parents and children to enjoy interactive play together.
Babies giggled with delight as they were lifted high into the air to the rhythm of the music — those joyful little faces were absolutely priceless!
Our “Rolling, Crawling, and Toddling Baby Race” — complete with a participation prize — drew an incredible 30 entries!
Moms waved toys calling, “Over here, sweetie!” while the babies, lying contentedly on their backs, simply gazed up at them — earning warm smiles from the entire crowd.
During the crawling round, some babies struggled with the grass-textured mat, while others made a beeline straight for mommy.
With a little help from dad or big brother, they wobbled their way to mom!
Some little racers refused to budge from the starting line, prompting their parents to creep closer and closer to the start — to everyone’s amusement!
The babies’ priceless expressions kept the energy high from start to finish!
At the Menard Facial Salon Rikigo Susuba booth, professional beauty experts shared makeup tips you’d never spot on your own!
Even when we know makeup trends shift over time, busy daily life often keeps us stuck in the same routine.
Mom after mom was amazed: “Just changing the eyebrows made such a huge difference!”
Another bustling spot was the Green Co-op booth.
They generously offered baby food samples, soft-serve ice cream tastings, and even the participation prizes for the baby race!
Their rich, milky soft-serve drew enthusiastic “Delicious!” reactions from kids and adults alike!
Their carefully crafted baby food — ready to eat after just mixing or warming — had the little ones happily munching away!
For moms shopping for baby food, it’s such a relief to test whether your child will actually enjoy it before buying!
Mashiki-based bust care salon pearl.Radiant joined us this time as a flea market vendor.
With stylish clothing at wonderfully affordable prices, moms were spotted holding pieces up to the mirror.
Already dreaming up future outings in their new finds!
At the financial planner’s booth, families could enjoy free education-fund consultations along with a complimentary handprint or mom-and-child photo gift!
Education savings is a worry every parent faces — what a relief to talk it through with a pro!
The handprints made for the perfect keepsake to mark a child’s growth,
and many parent-child duos lined up for sweet two-shot photos together!
Cocomaro offered ear acupressure — a traditional therapy that reads the body’s wellbeing through the ears.
A few well-placed ear-point pressures can refresh stiff shoulders from carrying babies and ease that constant new-mom fatigue!
It turned out to be surprisingly intense — a few moms couldn’t help but exclaim, “Ouch!!!” with scrunched-up faces.
With expert advice on circulation care, we hope these moms continue feeling their best every day.
second base, an organization connecting kids with the wider community, set up shop with bread, drinks, handmade goods, and a fun lottery game.
Many kids excitedly used their own pocket money to try their luck at the lottery!
The well-stocked bread and drinks completely sold out — a huge success!
Outside, we set up a water-play area — a guaranteed kid favorite.

Kids drenched each other with water guns, laughing the whole time — pure summer joy!
The tapioca-topped shaved ice was so popular it sold out completely!
The aroma of grilled squid (ika-yaki) brushed with savory sauce had everyone’s mouths watering,
and food trucks served up curry, fries, and other delicious treats!

A Heartfelt Thank You
Mama-Baby was created with one mission: to give hardworking moms a chance to recharge and to give families a joyful day out together.
We were so touched to hear, “I came to Hapi-Kuma when my first child was little!” from a mom now bringing her second baby — and to welcome back returning families with their grown-up kids!
Getting to see all those bright smiles again truly made it a magical day for us!
We can’t wait to host another family-friendly event soon — we’d love to see you there!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who attended, every vendor who joined us, and every wonderful person who helped make this event possible.
