About Misato Forest Campground Garden Place

Hello travelers! This is Gussan, a writer for [Sarukuma].
Today I’m taking you to Misato Town in Shimomashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
[Misato Forest Campground Garden Place].
We visited in April when the cherry blossoms were still blooming — and somehow it’s already June! (laughs)
This time we skipped tent camping and stayed overnight in one of the lodges you can see in the back, together with a friend’s family.
Only one car can park right in front of the lodge, so we used the spacious main parking lot too.
The reception desk for [Misato Forest Campground Garden Place] is right near the parking lot, so head there first to check in.
Good news for international visitors — they accept cash, credit cards, and electronic money.
The reception area also sells drinks, snacks, detergent, and firewood.
There’s a list of items for sale, which I’ve included for reference.
Now, on to the lodge!
Our group was huge — 8 adults and 10 children. We stayed in the Forest Lodge Deluxe.
The moment we arrived, our luggage was everywhere — but the atmosphere of the lodge was just wonderful!
High ceilings, plenty of space, and beautifully clean throughout.
The vibe alone gets both kids and grown-ups excited.
It might be a bit risky for toddlers just learning to walk, but children who walk confidently will have a blast just climbing up and down the loft area.
The bath and toilet are a unit-style combo.
With such a big group, having them separated would have been even better, but everything was spotlessly clean.
You’ll need to bring your own towels, but shampoo and body soap are provided.
The changing area in front of the bathroom has laundry baskets and a hair dryer.
Here’s the kitchen.
It comes with a gas stove, rice cooker, electric kettle, frying pan, kettle, and colander.
Bowls, chopsticks, and basic utensils are all stocked, so you can pretty much get by with just buying the ingredients! (laughs)
Wi-Fi is also available. Guests are asked to take their trash home, but for 400 yen the staff will dispose of it for you.

What We Loved About Misato Forest Campground Garden Place

Our lodge was a bit of a walk away, but there’s a fantastic playground inside the Misato Forest Campground Garden Place grounds.
The centerpiece is a large adventure structure with two different slides.
There’s a water fountain and restrooms close by too.
Kids can crawl through tunnels, swing on ropes, and get plenty of active play.
There are swings too, plus a wide grass field perfect for a game of catch or soccer.
Outside the lodge there’s a covered terrace where you can enjoy a BBQ (outdoor sandals come in handy here)…
…and of course you can enjoy a classic camping bonfire too.

Once the rainy season ends, summer vacation is right around the corner! Misato Forest Campground Garden Place is the perfect spot for an open-air, away-from-it-all escape in Kumamoto.
There are several types of accommodation, and you can also pitch your own tent if you prefer traditional camping.
Whether you’re staying overnight or stopping by for a hands-free day-trip BBQ, there’s a style of fun for everyone.
Forest Adventure Misato is also located on the same grounds, so if you have time, definitely check it out as well.
