About Keishokudokoro Ikoi

Hello travelers! I’m Asukarando, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Today I’m introducing a charming little eatery in Yamaga, Kumamoto:
[Keishokudokoro Ikoi].

Ikoi sits right next to a public park with a free foot bath. A bright banner out front makes it easy to spot!

The historic streets of Yamaga have such a wonderful atmosphere — there’s a retro, almost cinematic feel to the town that just makes you smile (*^.^*)

Ikoi is run by a lovely couple who also operate a Japanese catering business. The relaxed, welcoming vibe makes it easy to step right inside (^-^)v

The interior is incredibly homey — the kind of place where you instantly feel like a regular and want to come back again and again.

First up — feast your eyes on the lineup of mouthwatering homemade Japanese sides! (*^.^*)

Recommended Menu Items at Keishokudokoro Ikoi

For sides, I went with the inari sushi and takoyaki!

Just look at that glistening sweet fried tofu — my mouth was watering before I even took a bite!

Slightly sweet vinegared rice studded with white sesame, wrapped in a deeply seasoned, juicy tofu pouch — every bite bursts with flavor.

The other simmered dishes looked just as tempting — I’m officially declaring every one of Ikoi’s sides a winner!

And the takoyaki — a guaranteed crowd-pleaser with kids (^^)

Fluffy on the outside, gooey on the inside — these takoyaki work as a perfect snack OR a satisfying lunch. The best of both worlds! (^3^)/

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu (*^.^*)
The friendly oba-chan (auntie) running the shop is so easy to chat with, you’ll find yourself lingering far longer than planned (^-^)v

It’s the kind of place that makes you want to say “Tadaima!” (“I’m home!”) when you walk in.
If you’re exploring Yamaga and want to experience genuine local hospitality, drop by Ikoi for a taste of small-town Kumamoto charm \(^_^)(^_^)/
