Introducing Teneri Soft

Hello, travelers! I’m Aikero, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Kumamoto locals are known as “wasamon” (people who love trying new things), and I’m no exception!
For all the curious foodies out there,
I headed out to cover a brand-new soft serve specialty shop that opened on August 3rd — said to be the first of its kind in Kumamoto!
During my visit, customers kept rolling in one after another.

Today’s spotlight is on
[Teneri Soft], located in Kashima Town, Kamimashiki District. The sleek black exterior with its eye-catching cow signboard, styled like a traditional hanafuda card, immediately draws you in!
The shop sits one street back from the intersection in front of Hamankoura Kashima.
If you’re coming from the Jonan area, pass Kashima Post Office on your right, turn at Nakashima Oil, and you’ll spot the sign.
Good news — it shows up on Google Maps too!
The parking lot is wonderfully spacious!
A roomy parking lot really makes a difference, doesn’t it? (^^)Here are the opening hours.Outdoor table seating is available too, perfect for enjoying your treat right on the spot! And there’s a trash bin — always a welcome touch!

Turns out this shop is run by kumamoto milk, the popular dairy brand based in Koshi City!
Our writer Binako previously covered the original kumamoto milk shop on Sarukuma, so be sure to check that article out too!

So what exactly is “Teneri Soft”?
Since standard soft serve machines can’t dispense solid mix-ins, the team thought: “If a machine can’t do it, we’ll knead it by hand!” — and that’s how this concept was born.
(They actually went to great lengths consulting with manufacturers and machine specialists before finally arriving at this hand-kneaded solution.)

The result? Kumamoto’s very first hand-kneaded soft serve ice cream! (^^)/
Since each order is kneaded by hand after you order, please allow a little extra time when you visit.

I went back and forth between the burnt caramel almond, black sesame, and peanut, and finally settled on the bittersweet coffee crumble. (Indecisive, I know!)
It was hot outside, so please excuse me — I enjoyed mine in the car.

Oh, and one more thing!
When I placed my order, an incredible aroma was wafting out from the kitchen — they were preparing fresh toppings on site!
Now I really wish I’d gone with the hand-baked cone… (T_T)

The chunky crumble pieces blended beautifully with the soft serve — absolutely delicious!
Pardon my lap as a backdrop!
The signature hand-baked, sugar-coated waffle cone is a kumamoto milk classic!
Though I have to admit — this was actually my first time trying it (●^o^●) haha

The flavors were perfectly balanced throughout, and you could really tell it had been kneaded with care!
Next time I’m torn between the peanut and burnt caramel almond… (still can’t decide!)

Teneri Soft in Kashima isn’t far from central Kumamoto City, so be sure to stop by and try this one-of-a-kind hand-kneaded soft serve — only available here in Kumamoto! (^^)/
