Introducing Toriba Park

Today we’re introducing a hidden gem located in Sugishima, Tomiai-machi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City:
Toriba Park.Tucked away inside a quiet residential neighborhood, this peaceful park offers a true local atmosphere.
The Seven-Two golf practice range sits nearby, making it easy to spot.With its calm vibe, it’s a wonderful weekday secret spot away from the crowds.The Toriba Community Center is conveniently attached to the park grounds.

On weekends, lots of local kids come here to play soccer, so a wire mesh net has been installed for safety.For play equipment, you’ll find a horizontal bar set up next to a small flower bed.A swing set sits at the far end of the park, viewed from the community center.
And there’s a charmingly colorful seesaw too.

That’s the full lineup, but somehow the kids never seem to run out of ways to play here ♪There’s a drinking water fountain on-site, but please note there is no parking lot or restroom available.Toriba Park has four entrances along the surrounding road, and each one is fitted with a safety barrier like the one shown.

It’s likely a thoughtful touch to keep kids playing catch or basketball safe from passing traffic. What a kind little detail ♪

Toriba Park: Why We Recommend It

A circle of cherry blossom trees surrounds the stone monument at the edge of the park.When spring arrives, these cherry trees burst into full bloom,

turning the park into a hidden hanami (cherry blossom viewing) spot ♪There are also four benches scattered around the park, and you’ll notice their arrangement changes from day to day.

The grounds are nicely spacious, giving younger elementary-school-aged children plenty of room to run around to their hearts’ content ♪Right alongside Toriba Park, a row of cherry trees lines the nearby river, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll while listening to the birds singing.
