Introducing Curry Kobo Bistro Ikko

Hello, travelers! I’m Riri, a writer for Sarukuma β™ͺ

Today, I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem located in Suya, Koshi City:
“Curry Kobo Bistro Ikko” β€” a curry lover’s paradise just outside Kumamoto City!

There are 2 parking spots right in front of the shop, plus…

…a spacious parking area beside the building!

If you’re driving a rental car around Kumamoto, the generous parking space makes this stop stress-free β€” even for nervous drivers!

Step inside, and you’ll be charmed by the cozy country-style interior of Curry Kobo Bistro Ikko β˜…

The restaurant offers both table seating and counter seats. During our visit, we noticed plenty of local office workers in suits and friends meeting up for lunch β€” a sign that this place is loved by locals.

Look up, and you’ll spot adorable little knick-knacks lining the shelves above ^^

You’ll also find blankets and small sharing plates available for guests to use freely β€” a thoughtful touch typical of Japanese hospitality (omotenashi).

The menu features curry as the star, of course, but also…

…Japanese-style set meals (teishoku) and weekly specials, too!
With such variety, you could easily come back day after day β™ͺ

Curry Kobo Bistro Ikko Recommended Menu

Our top pick: the “Choose-Your-Own Curry Lunch” for just 900 yen!

You can pick any 2 out of 4 curry options β€” Chicken Curry, Green Curry, Pork Curry, or Keema Curry. Come with a friend, share, and you can try all four varieties in one sitting!

Even better, all curries except the Green Curry can be customized to your preferred spice level: mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. The Chicken and Green Curries are made with rich coconut milk for a smooth, aromatic finish.

Just look at those generous chunks of pork!

The chicken pieces are equally hearty β€” every bite is satisfying!

    Honestly, just one type of curry is already a hearty serving β€” you’ll leave more than full ^^;

The portions are big enough to satisfy any hungry traveler, but if you want to add even more, there are tasty toppings available too: hamburger steak (600 yen), Japanese-style fried chicken or karaage (500 yen), and even a melted cheese topping over the rice (300 yen) for an extra indulgent twist!

One curry already covers the whole plate, so how do you even fit two on it?

We asked the staff, and they said you can pour both curries from opposite sides of the rice, or eat one then the other. Some guests even order a rice refill (200 yen) because the curry portions are so generous! With this much sauce, an extra serving of rice might just be essential.

Whether you’re a die-hard curry enthusiast or just curious to taste a variety of authentic Japanese-style curries in one meal, Curry Kobo Bistro Ikko is well worth the trip (^_-)-β˜†
