Introducing holoholo Cafe

Hello travelers! This is Asukarando, writer for Sarukuma.

Today I’m excited to introduce a delightful little spot in Nagasu Town, Tamana District
holoholo — a charming cafeteria perfect for a refreshing break.

holoholo is located inside the wonderful Kingyo to Koi no Sato Park (Goldfish and Carp Park) — a family-favorite spot we’ve featured before. Check out our park guide here:

Kingyo to Koi no Sato Park: A Fun Park with Water Play in Nagasu Town, Tamana District

This space previously housed Siphon Tatsuya cafe. Now, holoholo has taken over — and it’s become a true oasis for hot summer park days. Let me show you around!

There’s plenty of free parking available at Kingyo to Koi no Sato Park, making access easy for visitors.

As you walk through the park, you’ll spot a stylish wooden building — that’s holoholo!

The cafe is accessible via both stairs and a ramp, so it’s easy to enter with a stroller — great news for families with little ones.

Kumamoto summers can be intensely hot, so finding a cool place to rest is essential.

Inside the park grounds, an air-conditioned cafe with a charming penguin illustration awaits!
For parents who’ve been keeping up with energetic kids at the playground, this place is absolute paradise.

After a sweaty afternoon of park play and a quick change of clothes, we were practically pulled into this lovely space — it felt like destiny!

The interior of holoholo is a relaxing wooden space with sweeping views of the park.

They even have baby chairs available — perfect for traveling families.

Floor-to-ceiling glass windows line the cafe, and the table seating faces outward — so you can pick your favorite view while enjoying your treats!

Here’s a look at the holoholo menu:

Soft Serve Ice Cream (cup style) — 220 yen each
・Condensed Milk Strawberry
・Matcha
・Hokkaido Premium Vanilla
・Soda

Drink Menu — 100 yen each
・Hot Coffee
・Iced Coffee
・Orange Juice
・Apple Juice
・Grapefruit Juice

New Item! Cola Float — 220 yen

Every price is wonderfully wallet-friendly!

They also offer some delicious local Japanese sweets:

・Ikinari Dango (Kumamoto’s traditional sweet potato dumpling) — 150 yen
・Sweet Potato — 150 yen
・Sweet Potato Pie — 200 yen

I’ve tried these before and they’re all wonderful. The Sweet Potato Pie in particular is an absolute must-try — seriously delicious!

Inside holoholo, you’ll also find adorable goldfish-themed souvenirs for sale.

Nagasu Town is famously known as the goldfish capital of Kumamoto!

Goldfish Water Yo-Yo (traditional Japanese summer toy) — 100 yen

They even sell goldfish-scooping kits so you can recreate this beloved Japanese festival game at home!

Goldfish Scooping Paper Net (Poi) — 100 yen

And how cute is this — a goldfish-shaped water gun called “Goldfish Mizu Pisu” — 100 yen

The restrooms are located inside and are immaculately clean. The accessible restroom even has a diaper-changing station, so traveling with babies is no problem at all.

They also sell carp food (100 yen) — perfect for feeding the koi in the park’s pond!

holoholo Recommended Menu

Soft Serve Ice Cream — 220 yen
Cola Float — 220 yen

That’s what we ordered!

The Cola Float is a treat that adults will love too! It was incredibly refreshing after a tiring day, and the view from our seat was simply stunning.

The ice cream comes in a cup, so even small children can enjoy it without worrying about drips and spills — a thoughtful touch!

And here’s some great news!

You’re allowed to bring in your own food! Since families spend time at the park year-round, this is especially useful on hot summer days and chilly winter ones.

holoholo lets you enjoy both park play and a cozy cafeteria experience — making it a fantastic choice for families visiting Kumamoto!
