Introducing Cat’s Cafe Nekojarashi
Hello travelers! This is Mofumofu, your Sarukuma writer.
Today I’m taking you to Tsukide in Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City, to a delightful little spot called
Cat’s Cafe Nekojarashi.
Let me say this right up front:
The cats here are unbelievably adorable!!!! (Sorry for shouting.)

Cat’s Cafe Nekojarashi is a special kind of cat cafe β every cat here is up for adoption, looking for a forever home.
Some are dozing peacefully, some hop right onto your lap begging for attention, and some watch you curiously from afar. There’s a personality for everyone! π±π
You can spend quality time with these rescue kitties, and if you fall in love with one, you can even apply to become their foster parent!

As a huge cat lover myself, I think it’s wonderful that adoption from rescue cafes is becoming a real alternative to pet shops.
Now, let’s step inside Nekojarashi! π

Here’s the exterior of the cafe.
Look β there’s already a kitty lounging by the window! Too cute to handle!

At the entrance, take off your shoes and slip into the provided slippers (a typical Japanese cafe custom).
Don’t forget to sanitize your hands as well!

The pricing at Nekojarashi is one drink + 100 yen per 10 minutes. Very budget-friendly!
After hearing a few house rules, you’ll choose your drink.
Fun warning: if you order the cream soda, prepare to be ambushed by cats hunting for the ice cream on top! π

Once you’ve ordered, settle wherever you like β¨
Inside the cafe you’ll find adorable tree-stump-shaped stools and bench seats to relax on βͺ
One last note: there’s one parking spot right in front of the shop, plus two more spaces a short walk away.

For the off-site parking, please use only the marked spots #8 and #11.
The other spaces are reserved for other tenants β please don’t park there!
Why You’ll Love Cat’s Cafe Nekojarashi

Look at this melon cream soda β way too pretty to drink! π₯°
While I was admiring it (and the kitty napping behind it)β¦

β¦an actual angel landed on my lap! ο½₯:*+.\(( Β°ΟΒ° ))/.:+
Just look at this little cutie! (His name is Denish-kun π±)
He cuddled up and fell fast asleep on my legs. I couldn’t bear to wake himβ¦ so I happily served as his cat bed for 40 whole minutes! π
I would have stayed even longer, but it was time for the legendary moment that turns you into a cat magnet β THIS (οΎβοΎ)β¨

Churu! Ciao Churu! π’ (Japan’s famous lickable cat treat)
For just 100 yen per tube, you can be swarmed by happy kitties! π₯°

Pro tip: the bigger cats often charge in first, leaving the little ones with no chance. So I had to gently take turns saying “Okay, your turn now!” to make sure everyone got a taste π
Even so, some kitties miss out β next time, I’m definitely going for the two-handed Churu technique!

This little one missed out on the Churu and started eyeing my ice cream instead.
It’s tempting to share, but please remember β never give human food to the cats! π π»ββοΈ

Beyond the kitties themselves, the cafe also sells adorable cat-themed souvenirs perfect for travelers π
β’ Cat plush toys (small: 500 yen / large: 1,000 yen)
β’ Memo pads (300 yen)
β’ Magnets (small: 150 yen / large: 300 yen)
β’ Gauze handkerchiefs (250 yen)
β’ Cat staff keychains (300 yen)
β¦and many more π±π
I was so busy taking photos that I forgot to buy any β a regret I’m still nursing!

One hour flew by in the blink of an eye.
I really didn’t want to leave, but I waved goodbye, promised the kitties I’d be back soon, and headed out π₯Ί
Cat’s Cafe Nekojarashi is truly something special: affordable prices, super-friendly cats, and the chance to give a rescue kitty a home π
(I genuinely cannot stop thinking about cuddly Denish-kun.)
I’ll definitely be back whenever I need to relax and recharge!
