Welcome to Kogashita Park

Hello travelers! It’s Kanao, your local writer from SaruKuma 🌱

Today, I’m taking you to a charming little spot tucked away in Kogashitamachi, Yatsushiro City
Kogashita Park (古賀下公園).

This is a small, intimate neighborhood park featuring just a slide and swings.

The compact size is actually a huge plus for parents — it’s easy to keep an eye on your little ones without constantly chasing after them. 😊

Right next to the park, you’ll find a local community center (kominkan).

There’s parking for 2-3 cars in front of the community center.

Heads up: the road leading to the park is quite narrow, so passing oncoming cars can be a bit tricky. Drive carefully! 💦

Good news — there’s a vending machine right along the road! 🌟

Since there are no convenience stores nearby, having a vending machine for drinks is a real lifesaver, especially on warm days. (^○^)

There are separate restrooms for men and women, both Japanese-style (squat) toilets.

The restrooms are kept reasonably clean, but the men’s room doesn’t have doors or full walls, so we’d recommend using the bathroom before you arrive if possible.

There’s also a hand-washing station right next to the play equipment ◎

My son loved washing his hands here before heading home ♪

There’s a covered rest area too, perfect for shade ◎

Plenty of benches mean lots of room to set down your bags and relax — super convenient for families!

Right beside the play equipment, there’s a small open sports area with a basketball hoop and a wall for ball practice 🥎

It’s also a great spot for classic games like hide-and-seek or tag with the kids ♪

What Makes Kogashita Park Special

The highlight here is this adorable little play structure!
At first glance, it just looks like an ordinary slide…

But surprise! 🎉

Underneath the slide, there’s a built-in drum (taiko) panel that makes sounds when you tap it ◎

Kids can pound away on it while singing along — it’s so much fun!
Play equipment that actually makes music? That’s pretty rare and special! (^^)

If you’re traveling around Yatsushiro with little ones, why not stop by Kogashita Park for a fun, low-key break? ♪
