2022.12.09

A SaruKuma writer pays a personal visit to “Café Le Ciel” in Shiroyama-Ootomo, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City. Budget guide: from 500 yen. We’ve also rounded up family-friendly points, access info, and opening hours.
Introducing Café Le Ciel
Hello everyone, this is Asukarando, writer for [SaruKuma].
Today I’m taking you to Shiroyama-Ootomo, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City, where you’ll find
[Café Le Ciel].
Our writer Binako previously featured Café Le Ciel here on the blog. This time, I had the wonderful opportunity to use the café as a rental space and enjoy lunch there too — so I’m reintroducing it from a fresh angle (*^^*)
The exterior has such a stylish, welcoming vibe (^-^)
But just a few years ago, the building looked very different! After a beautiful renovation, it’s been reborn as the chic café you see today!
Parking is conveniently located on the café’s own property.
Café Le Ciel is famous for its galettes — savory French buckwheat crepes (^o^)/
But wait!
Today, galettes aren’t actually the main attraction (*^^*)
Why We Recommend Café Le Ciel
Here’s the exciting part: on Café Le Ciel’s regular closing days (Thursdays and Fridays), the entire interior can be rented out for events, gatherings, or workshops!
Booking times are flexible (up until 10 PM). If you’d like to use the space outside the regular closing days, just consult with the café in advance (^-^)/
Now, you’re probably wondering — how much does it cost to rent?
Get ready for this!
An incredibly reasonable one-drink minimum at just 500 yen!!
For parent-and-child gatherings, only the parent pays the 500 yen!
🥤 Drink Menu 🥤 Hot or Iced
Coffee, Tea, Matcha Latte, Lemonade, Royal Milk Tea
And if you’d like, you can even order Café Le Ciel’s signature galettes on top of that!
It’s almost too good to be true (>.<)y-~
This area inside Café Le Ciel serves as the event space.
A lovely, relaxed space where families can spend quality time together (*^^*)
When hunger struck, we ordered the famous Café Le Ciel galette!
Made with 100% buckwheat flour, it’s a treat for moms — though buckwheat may be too early for very small children, so sandwiches are also available on the menu.
The restroom is a spacious multi-purpose facility — large enough to enter with a child.
The café was originally designed with barrier-free accessibility so that visitors using nearby facilities could also come in and enjoy a coffee.
Fully Barrier-Free!!!
The entrance has no steps, so wheelchair users and strollers can enter with complete ease (*^^*)
Having an indoor place to gather no matter the weather is such a blessing!
Next time, I’d love to use it for a get-together with my kids and other moms. Café Le Ciel is not only delicious — it’s incredibly welcoming to mothers and children alike.
Highly recommended! (⌒0⌒)/~~
