A Sarukuma writer’s first-hand visit to “Private Spa Kurage” in Kawasaki, Tamana City. Pricing starts from 1,700 yen. We’ve also rounded up family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.
Introducing Private Spa Kurage
Hello travelers! It’s Miruku, a writer for [Sarukuma].
Today I’m excited to introduce you to a hidden gem in Kawasaki, Tamana City
[Private Spa Kurage].

With its stylish blue-and-white exterior reminiscent of a Greek island, this family onsen (private bath house) just opened in September 2022 πβ£οΈ

Even the shop’s logo is adorable π

As I approached the entrance, I spotted a charming mandarin orange tree painted on the door π₯Ήπ
That’s right β Kurage is full of Instagram-worthy photo spots!
I’d heard all the buzz, so I came here with high expectations π

Now, let me give you a tour inside βΊοΈ

The moment I opened the door β surprise!
The shop’s logo is projected as a spotlight on the floor, welcoming guests in π

This is the waiting area near the reception desk.
True to the concept “Let the sea fill your heart,” the entire space feels like you’ve stepped onto a Mediterranean shoreline π
The owners imagined a small seaside town on a beautiful island in the Aegean Sea, and designed nine unique private spaces to bring that vision to life.
Kurage uses 100% natural hot spring water sourced directly from the spring, offering relief for various physical ailments along with moisturizing and warming benefits.
The water has a pH of 8.2, giving it a beautifully clear quality with cleansing properties that help leave skin smoother and more radiant π
It’s the kind of place where both body and soul can fully unwind π

The facility offers a total of 8 private bath rooms.
Pricing is straightforward: 7 standard family bath rooms plus 1 VIP room.
- Standard Type⦠1,700 yen (up to 3 adults)
- VIP Room⦠2,800 yen (up to 4 adults)
β» 2 children (elementary school age or younger) count as 1 adult β»
Bathing time is 60 minutes on weekdays and 50 minutes on weekends and holidays.
For men only, there’s also a large public bath on the premises (500 yen for adults, 300 yen for elementary school age and younger).
Time extensions, amenities like shampoo, and ice cream are all available for purchase from the ticket vending machine βΊοΈ

Here is the reception desk.
After purchasing your ticket from the vending machine, simply hand it over here.

They also offer rental chairs and basins for kids, plus cute accessories and toys for sale π

There’s plenty of parking space too, so no need to worry about that.
Why You’ll Love Private Spa Kurage

A lovely garden stretches out toward the guest rooms.
This time, I’d like to introduce my top recommendation β the VIP Room π (2,800 yen)

This room is named “Santorini.”

Let me walk you through the 10 amazing perks of the VIP Room π
- Spacious, relaxing layout
- Bluetooth speakers
- Hollywood-style vanity mirror
- Overhead rain shower
- Cushion lounging area
- Choice of premium shampoo sets
- Toilet with bidet (washlet)
- Dyson hair dryer
- Television

Even the room signs are adorable π

Open the door and you’re greeted with an incredibly spacious bathroom π

It really feels like you’re surrounded by the sea π
The wall art is lovely too π

The dressing area is wonderfully spacious πββοΈ
No more crowded post-bath chaos! π
The sofa is so roomy that even my little son could roll around freely πβ£οΈ
Two adults can sit side by side with plenty of space to spare π

The room comes with its own bidet-equipped toilet (washlet) π

And here’s the famous Hollywood vanity mirror!
It’s massive!
The mirror has a touch switch β tap it and the lights sparkle to life βΊοΈ

The wall-mounted TV gives the room a sleek, modern feel πββοΈ

The bath itself is deeper at the back and shallower at the front.
This thoughtful design means small children can safely play in the shallow area β a real lifesaver for parents π
There’s even a built-in overhead rain shower π

You can also choose from a selection of premium shampoo setsβ¦

And the VIP-exclusive Dyson hair dryer! β£οΈ
This was only my second time using a Dyson dryer at a family bath house π
It dries hair shockingly fast π

You can connect via Bluetooth and stream your music through the speaker built into the ceiling lights βͺ
Soak up some peaceful time with your favorite tunes π
I’m a huge fan of Namie Amuro, so I had her songs playing the whole time and felt totally at peace π lol

To finish things off, I toasted with a glass of milk β my go-to source of energy π₯π
What an absolutely wonderful experience.
