📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A Sarukuma writer visits “Tamaya,” a charming food truck that travels throughout Kumamoto Prefecture. Price range: from 350 yen. We’ve also gathered family-friendly tips, access info, and business hours.

Introducing Tamaya

Hello there! I’m Gachako, a Sarukuma writer who happens to look just like Gachapin (a famous green Japanese character).

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to a delightful food truck that roams all across Kumamoto Prefecture:
【Tamaya】!

Wait a second — I just noticed! Even the wheel hubs are shaped like eggs (“tamago” in Japanese)!
And the lovely staff member is wearing sunny-side-up egg accessories too (lol).

It’s an adorable food truck decked out in cheerful egg-yolk yellow and white.

Don’t miss their mascot cat, Tamako!

Tamaya is a food truck specializing in one universally loved comfort food: the Japanese egg sandwich (tamago sando).

The menu features egg sandwiches only, with a variety of delicious toppings to choose from.
Let me walk you through the lineup!

○ Gouda Cheese — 350 yen

○ Bacon Garlic — 350 yen

○ Condensed Milk — 350 yen

○ Ketchup & Mayo — 350 yen

○ Take-Home Sandwich — 500 yen
This one comes unheated, perfect for toasting at home however you like.

The four sandwiches above are all served fresh and hot straight from the food truck’s grill.

Just ask, and you can get the bread crusts for free!

Tamaya’s Recommended Menu

When I asked, “What’s your top recommendation?”
the answer came instantly: “Condensed milk!”

I couldn’t help but blurt out, “Whaaaaat?! Really?!”

Skeptical (sorry!), I decided to give it a try.

○ Condensed Milk Egg Sandwich — 350 yen
Generously drizzled with condensed milk!!

(I’m still doubting it at this point, lol)

Look at that beautiful golden grill mark! The aroma of toasted bread and butter is irresistible.

Time to dig in!

Oh wow — this is amazing! The condensed milk recommendation was no joke!
The sweet condensed milk pairs beautifully with the egg filling seasoned with black pepper, creating an endless dance between sweet and savory

I can totally see why people get hooked on this.
It’s not your typical egg sandwich — it’s a whole new culinary experience.
Apparently, customers who try it often become repeat buyers.

The current bestsellers are the cheese and bacon, but the condensed milk version is rapidly closing in on the top spot!
