About the Shop

Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Mikan 🍊, writer for [Sarukuma].

Today I’m excited to introduce you to
AmeYa, a delightful little sweets shop located in Komori, Nishihara Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture.

If you’re visiting for the first time, you might say
“Wait… it’s HERE?!” because
this adorable sweets shop is tucked away quietly in a residential neighborhood β™ͺ

I always use the “Nishihara New Town” sign as my landmark when heading there! (lol)

As you approach the corner, you’ll spot the shop’s sign too.

You might think, “Wait… is this really the right way?”
but go ahead and turn at that sign! (lol)

There are 3 parking spaces right in front of the shop!

Now, let’s head inside~~

The first thing that catches your eye when you step inside is

a beautiful showcase filled with all kinds of sweets!

As a fruit lover, I couldn’t take my eyes off the parfaits.

Right next to the showcase, you’ll find pies too!

For this season, they have a perfectly autumnal Marron (Chestnut) Pie (440 yen) 🌰

They also sell baked confections!

And speaking of AmeYa…

an incredible variety of handmade candies!!!

I wonder how many kinds there are. You’ll want to count them all (lol).

The undisputed #1 best-seller!

The famous Salt Candy (420 yen) sits proudly on display~~

And look at these adorable heart-shaped candies β™‘

So, so cute…They even handle wedding gift orders πŸ’“πŸ’“

Recommended Menu Items

I’m a fruit lover. ←Saying it for the second time (lol)
I couldn’t stop eyeing those parfaits in the showcase!

And what I ended up choosing was…
the Strawberry Shortcake Parfait (550 yen)

You really can’t beat strawberries~!!!
And it even comes with a takeout lid β€” so thoughtful!

Now, time to dig in!

The moment I popped open the lid
the wonderful aroma of strawberries hit me!

Strawberries packed tight on top πŸ’“πŸ’“

Let’s start with the strawberries~!

The strawberries are so sweet!

The fresh cream is delicious! Not too sweet, just perfect!
And the sponge cake is so light and fluffy~~As you eat further down, there are even more strawberries inside!
That’s such a delightful surprise~~~

The strawberries aren’t just on top!

When you look at this parfait from the side
you can see all the layers.
Can you see that white layer at the very bottom?

It’s not quite pudding, not quite panna cotta…

I’m not sure what it is… but it’s delicious!!!! (lol)

Every single bite of this parfait was absolutely amazing β™ͺ

Within minutes β€” no, seconds β€” it was all gone.

What a perfect treat to reward myself with!

The AmeYa I introduced today
also has a charming cafΓ© right in front of the shop!

They update their Instagram regularly,
so be sure to check it out if you’re interested~!
