2022.09.06

A SaruKuma writer visits “CoCoDy Muffin,” a charming food truck cafe traveling throughout Kumamoto Prefecture. Price range: from 380 yen. We cover family-friendly tips, access information, and business hours.
Introducing CoCoDy Muffin
Hello, travelers! I’m Gachako, a writer for [SaruKuma].
Today I’m excited to introduce a delightful food truck that travels across Kumamoto Prefecture
[CoCoDy Muffin].

This mobile cafe specializes in muffins made with locally-sourced Kumamoto rice flour (note: muffins are on summer hiatus)
and offers a fully vegan-friendly menu.
If the word “vegan” sounds intimidating, don’t worry — I felt the same way at first!
In many countries around the world, plant-based eating has become a beloved part of food culture,
and it’s genuinely wonderful to discover how delicious and gentle on the body these treats can be.
For this visit, I caught up with the truck at a disaster preparedness fair in Arao City.

This soy milk ice cream is specially imported from Moon Soy Milk Ice Cream in Shiga Prefecture, and
CoCoDy Muffin’s food truck is the only place in Kumamoto Prefecture where you can enjoy it!

The lemonade features pesticide-free lemons from Gyokuto Town in Kumamoto.
Even the ginger ale uses organically grown ginger from Nishiki Town — a true labor of love in every house-made syrup.
CoCoDy Muffin Recommended Menu Items

I ordered the Coffee Jelly Float.
You can choose from 5 different ice cream flavors to top your coffee jelly.
The staff recommends the Pure Soy Milk or Soy Milk Latte flavors.
I went with Pure Soy Milk this time.
It was a hot day, and this drink absolutely revived me — so refreshing and delicious!
The rich, creamy soy milk ice cream paired beautifully with the crisp coffee jelly.
And here’s what our family’s resident matcha enthusiast (my daughter) chose —
the Soy Milk Matcha Ice Cream, served as a generous 2-scoop portion.

When I asked, “Isn’t it bitter?”
she replied with a beaming smile, “It’s so sweet and yummy!”
Honestly, you’d never even know it was made with soy milk — it tastes that natural and delicious!
If you’re traveling through Kumamoto, be sure to keep an eye out for the
[CoCoDy Muffin] food truck — it’s a treat you won’t want to miss!
