Today we’re heading to Karashima-cho in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City to visit
[Karashima Pan], a charming bakery you won’t want to miss.

Just steps away from Sakuramachi, this lovely bakery opened its doors on April 29 🍞

The bakers work hard to keep a full lineup of freshly baked bread available throughout the day — what a treat for visitors!

The interior features adorable skateboard displays — a fun, casual vibe.

You’ll find a wide variety of breads here — from savory deli-style options to sweet pastries.

The must-try recommendation is the Ultimate Collaboration Curry Bread with Magari Curry — 350 yen

It features a specially blended keema curry paired with a unique crouton-style bread crust developed through countless trials!

We caught a batch fresh out of the fryer — look at that gorgeous golden color!

For families with kids, there’s also a milder Butter Chicken Curry Bread option.

The bakery’s number one bestseller? The shio pan (salt bread)!

The display case is filled with rows of cute, round bread rolls 😆 — both savory and sweet varieties await.

Here’s what we picked up on our visit!

First up, the freshly fried Curry Bread (Keema Curry) at 350 yen — a collaboration with Magari Curry.

Wow — this is the real deal!
A generous filling of keema curry blended with 15 different spices, exquisitely flavorful.
And that crouton-style crust on the outside? Crispy, crunchy perfection. This is the ideal curry bread for summer ☀

Next is another collab item — the Karashi Renkon Bread Roll, supervised by Teppan Dining DK, at 200 yen.

Wait — does karashi renkon (Kumamoto’s famous mustard-stuffed lotus root) actually pair with bread? It’s packed with a generous filling.
And yes — it works beautifully! The crunchy lotus root, fluffy round bread, and spicy mustard mayo create a delightful harmony. A must-try for adventurous foodies!

And finally, the bestselling Shio Pan (salt bread) at 100 yen.

It’s stuffed with so much butter that it literally seeps out — simple, rich, and absolutely delicious! No wonder it’s the top seller.

According to their Instagram, they also offer printed shokupan (sliced bread) where you can have your favorite photos printed onto the bread — a unique souvenir idea worth checking out (^^)
