Today I’m introducing a wonderful local spot in Aiyoi, Koshi City:
[Ogata Egg Farm].

I’ve long been a fan of the chiffon cakes a friend bakes using these eggs, and I’d been dying to visit and buy some myself. Finally, the day came!

Look for the natural green sign — it’s your landmark.

There are three egg vending machine locations in total.

The main farm shop is 900m further down the road, but today I’m featuring the closer Tsujikubo vending machine.
At all three machines, fresh eggs are restocked daily around 1:00 PM.

There’s space for about one car in front of the vending machine.

The area sits at a T-junction, so please park carefully and watch for traffic.

The hens are raised free-range in a natural bamboo grove environment, with their well-being as the top priority.
These Omega-3 Natural Eggs come from hens fed with flaxseed.
The owners traveled to France multiple times to research and develop their approach to chicken health and welfare.
This dedication to the hens’ well-being ultimately becomes nourishment for our own health, too.

The farm hosts a packed schedule of delicious collaboration events — bread sales, curry days, chiffon cake days, and more.

Press the lit-up button — and pop!

The door opens and you can take out your eggs.
They have a satisfying, hefty weight.
I went with the larger box (about 18 eggs for 600 yen).

Carry them gently so they don’t crack.

If you need a plastic bag, you’ll find them on the right side as you enter — purchase one there.

Time to crack one open at home!

The yolk is plump and firm — proof of true freshness.
For eggs this fresh, there’s only one choice: tamago kake gohan (Japanese-style raw egg over rice).
A light drizzle of soy sauce — less than usual, since I want to savor the egg itself.

The flavor is rich and bold — absolutely delicious!!
Once you taste these, supermarket eggs just won’t satisfy you anymore.

I also made a Japanese-style omelet (tamagoyaki) with these eggs, and even the everyday recipe came out beautifully rich and flavorful.
