Introducing Loiseau Bleu, a Creative French Pastry Shop
Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Igaguri, writer for Sarukuma.
Today we’re heading to Naka, Tamana City in Kumamoto Prefecture to visit “Loiseau Bleu” (Creative French Pastry).

It’s within walking distance of Tamana Station, sitting directly across from the Tamana Post Office — super easy to find.

Parking is available both in front of the shop and around back — a relief if you’ve rented a car to explore Kumamoto.

Just look at this lineup!
Rows of beautifully arranged baked sweets greet you the moment you step inside.

And the cakes in the showcase? Absolutely stunning.

Each one is a delicate edible artwork — you’ll find yourself gazing at the case longer than you planned.

Did you know one of Kumamoto’s award-winning pastry shops is tucked away right here in Tamana?

There’s also a cozy eat-in space toward the back.

Even on a Monday lunchtime visit, three groups of guests were already enjoying their desserts in the eat-in area — a good sign of just how loved this place is.

The eat-in area was temporarily paused during busy periods. Currently, guests are kindly asked to follow these rules:
No sharing drinks or sampling from the same plate
Please don’t place masks directly on the table
Simple etiquette, but easy to forget — please keep these in mind when you visit.
Loiseau Bleu’s Must-Try Menu

Today we came specifically for the eat-in-only parfait — a true seasonal treasure!
One small note for families: if you dine in, every guest (including children) needs to order one drink.

And then… wow!

Take a look at what’s layered inside this beauty:
Fully ripe peaches from Nishimura Orchard
Lychee jelly
Crème framboise (raspberry cream)
House-made almond milk ice cream
Streusel crumble
Framboise pépin (raspberry seed jam)
Passion fruit sauce
Custard
Talk about luxurious…

Passion fruit sauce × peach × house-made almond milk ice cream — the harmony is just unbelievable!
And that delicate tuile cookie sticking out of the parfait? It’s packed with a rich raspberry flavor. The level of craftsmanship in every single component is genuinely impressive.

The biggest surprise? That lychee jelly!
Peach and lychee together — a flavor combo you have to try to believe!
The peach parfait is only available until around mid-August (Obon season), so don’t wait too long if you want to try it.
Before the peach parfait, in May and June, they served a Japanese-style matcha parfait. We can’t wait to see what limited-edition parfait Loiseau Bleu dreams up next!
