Yodare Curry & Creative Spice Cuisine: Shop Introduction

Hello, travelers!
This is Maru, a writer for Sarukuma ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™ƒ

Today we’re heading to Taijima, Minami-ku, Kumamoto City, to visit
“Yodare – Curry & Creative Spice Cuisine”.

Summer in Japan and curry just go together! ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒป

Many locals already know about this place โ€” it’s one of the most popular spice curry shops in Kumamoto, and we couldn’t wait to try it ๏ผผ(^o^)๏ผ

The shop sits right on the corner of the Tamukae Shogakko-iriguchi intersection.

A quick note for drivers: please don’t park at neighboring businesses or shared facilities.
Yodare has 3 parking spaces available diagonally across the street at Machinaka Suigen, and parking is also permitted at Daitoryo Pachinko nearby ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿ’จ

We visited on a Sunday. Just as the rumors said, a line had already formed before opening. We arrived more than 30 minutes early and snagged the very first spot in line! (^^)

Takeout is also available โ€” perfect if you don’t want to wait in line.

Finally, the doors open! Inside you’ll find a mix of table and counter seating.

The interior has a fun, casual atmosphere.
Within minutes of opening, every seat was filled โ€” and a waiting line had formed again outside.

Here’s the menu.

On the day we visited, there was no “mixed plate” option โ€” they were serving just one curry:
Whole-Chicken Curry โ€” 1,350 yen (you can choose spicy or mild)

The menu wildly invites you to dig into the bone-in chicken with your bare hands โ€” a refreshingly primal way to eat (^^) Can’t wait! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Yodare Curry & Creative Spice Cuisine: Recommended Menu

This time we tried both the mild and the spicy versions.

Ta-da! This is the mild version.

Each plate is carefully assembled by hand, and even the rice is plated flat and beautifully โ€” true craftsmanship.

Oh, it’s oily!

But the chef uses high-quality oil, so it’s surprisingly light and never heavy.
In fact, the spice-infused oil is the magic โ€” absolutely my kind of curry ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

And of course, we tackled the chicken with our bare hands (^^)
Why does eating with your hands somehow double the flavor? Pure happiness.

I’m not great with super-spicy food, but the mild was perfect for me!

And here’s the spicy version.

The color is noticeably darker than the mild one.

It’s pretty spicy, but never overwhelming โ€” a clean heat with deep flavor.

The firm rice pairs perfectly with the curry. Honestly, even the rice on its own is ridiculously good ๐Ÿ˜‹

YES CURRY RICE!!!

Even as I write this report, I’m craving another bowl… This curry is seriously addictive!

If you’re traveling around Kumamoto, give it a try โ€” you won’t regret it ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
