Introducing Yugan Junnoji
Hello there!
This is Igaguri, a writer for SaruKuma.
Today I’m introducing
Yugan Junnoji,
located in Iwasaki, Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

It sits perched on a small hilltop!
Children sometimes come running out from the entrance, so please drive carefully as you head up the hill!

Look for this signboard β it marks the spot!

Just in front you’ll find Tsukasa-no-Yu, Tsukasa Bowl Tamana, and the Ritsuganji Shirasagi foot bath. Tamana City Hall is to the back right!

The parking spaces here are on the narrow side, so a kei car (Japanese compact car) is recommended if you have one!

For larger family vehicles, the width is just barely enough.
If your car doesn’t have sliding doors, take extra care.
We also recommend folding in your side mirrors.

Is that a little pond by the entrance?
Kids almost always end up playing here while they wait (laughs)

The atmosphere is lovely at night too (^^βͺ
Now, let’s head to the front desk!

Please note: phone reservations are not accepted on weekends, public holidays, the Obon period, New Year holidays, or long holiday weekends. During those times, you’ll need to drop by in person to make a booking.

There are 10 private rooms in total, and only 2 of them have water slides:
1. Satsuki
3. Konara
(These two rooms don’t have toilets inside, so make sure to use the restrooms near the front desk before heading in!)
Rooms 4 through 10 each have their own toilet.
And every room comes with two baths (^_-)-β

Right before your time slot, the staff will let you know β then you purchase a usage ticket from the vending machine.

They also sell a bath set, in case you forget anything!

There’s a small waiting area too. (Reception is on the left, parking on the right.)
Why We Recommend Yugan Junnoji
This time we managed to book Room 1, Satsuki βͺ
We arrived at 5:00 PM on a Sunday and were given a 7:00 PM slot!
So we headed over to the nearby “Izakaya Kin no Waraji,” which opens at 5:30 PM, enjoyed a meal in a private room, and then came back (^^βͺ

(This photo was taken during the daytime.)
Where is Room 1…???
My kids were already bursting with excitement! lol

We made it to the Satsuki room!
(Sorry the photo’s a little blurry β I was chasing the kids around in the dark.)

The indoor bath.
The temperature on the indoor bath cannot be adjusted (personally, I found it on the hot side).
Rinse-in shampoo and body soap are provided βͺ
And the outdoor bath has…

A WATER SLIIIIIDE!!!!
Just a heads up β after a few too many rides, your bottom starts to hurt (^-^;
You can adjust the water temperature using the hose.

There’s only one hairdryer per room, so I got out of the bath a little early!
The vanity area is spacious and beautifully clean!!

When you leave, return your room key along with the air conditioner remote to the front desk!

For the indoor bath only, please drain the tub before leaving!
“We refresh the free-flowing hot spring water for every single guest,” the staff told us!

There’s also a 3-hour relax plan available!
You can bring in your own food and drinks, and even order bento boxes β
Wow, that sounds like fun…!

They kindly let me snap a photo of the largest room (^^)/

There are vending machines near the front desk, perfect for grabbing a refreshing drink after your bath!

They’ve got Anpanman juice! (a kids’ favorite character drink)
There were even Seventeen Ice ice creams available βΊ
