About Manichizan Ryokuchi Park

Today I’m taking you to
Kasuga, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City, to a wonderful spot called
Manichizan Ryokuchi Park.

Just a short hop from Kumamoto Station, this hilltop park sits right above the Manichizan Tunnel — let’s check it out together! (^-^)v

Here’s the parking area! (^-^)

Restrooms are conveniently located right by the parking lot.

From the parking lot, just walk up the slope and you’re at the park!

Not feeling the climb? No problem — there’s also a grassy area with cherry trees right next to the parking lot! (^-^)/

Why You’ll Love Manichizan Ryokuchi Park

Walk up the slope and the lawn opens up — and wow, so many cherry trees!!!!

You can’t help but start daydreaming about hanami (cherry blossom viewing)! ＼(^o^)／

Look down the hillside and there are even more cherry trees blanketing the slope!

When the blossoms hit full bloom, the view here has to be absolutely breathtaking! ＼(^o^)／

You can even see Kumamoto Station from here, and watch the Shinkansen bullet trains gliding by! (^-^)v

Plenty of benches line the railing so you can sit and soak up the view! (^-^)

A sign reads: “1,000m to the summit”…

Wait, a whole kilometer?!
I wasn’t sure I could make it that far, but I figured I’d give it a try!

But the path beyond was closed off, so I had to give up (honestly, a tiny bit relieved…).
