Welcome to Maekawa Park
Hello, travelers!
This is Asukarando, your SaruKuma writer.
Today I’m taking you to a hidden gem tucked away in Kameo, Shichijo Town, Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture β the lovely “Maekawa Park.”
The park’s signature feature? A magnificent old-fashioned waterwheel that greets you on arrival (^-^)/
Here’s the parking area β easy to find and convenient for visitors (^-^)
Restrooms are right next to the parking lot β a real plus for families and longer visits.
Plenty of benches scattered throughout the park, perfect for resting or enjoying a snack (^-^)
Why You Shouldn’t Miss This Spot
Maekawa Park is also known as ‘Maekawa Suigen’ (Maekawa Spring Source) β a famous spot where you can collect pristine natural spring water absolutely free of charge (^-^)/
Pure spring water flows continuously, day and night!
Time to fill up my water bottle! οΌΌ(^o^)οΌ
Look at that crystal clarity!
I couldn’t help taking a big, refreshing gulp!
Wow β absolutely delicious!
Smooth, soft, and incredibly mellow on the tongue!
I just brought a small plastic bottle, but the locals come prepared with massive containers!
One kind visitor told me her family only uses tap water for washing dishes β for drinking and cooking, they use this spring water exclusively (^-^)
But Maekawa Park isn’t just about collecting water β there’s so much more to enjoy here!
During the summer months, kids love splashing around in the cool, shallow water(^-^)
And of course, the little stream is wonderfully clear and pristine (β0β)οΌ~~
Safety first β ropes are placed around the waterwheel to keep visitors at a safe distance.
Great news for families with little ones!
There are designated shallow areas perfect for toddlers and young children to play safely (^-^)
I took some of the spring water home and brewed my morning coffee with it.
It was the same coffee I always drink, but the difference was incredible β so smooth and mellow!
It was so good I’m already planning my next trip back for more (^o^)!
Why not come and enjoy a relaxing day at Maekawa Park while tasting some of Kumamoto’s most delicious natural spring water? οΌΌ(^o^)οΌ
