Today I’m taking you to Kuhonji, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, to introduce
“Kuhonji Yakitori Ajiichi” — a beloved local grilled chicken skewer shop.

A cozy, intimate little yakitori shop 🏠

The owner originally ran his yakitori shop in Mashiki, but after the area was hit by earthquake damage, he relocated to Kuhonji — and it’s been five wonderful years since!

You’ll find it directly across from Direx Kuhonji!

It’s also right next door to SORRISO, the fried-pizza shop we featured previously!

There’s no parking lot, so calling ahead to place your order is the best way to skip the wait and grab your skewers to go 😊

Inside there are two table seats, so you can also dine in!

So exciting! 😍

This time around, I picked up 8 different varieties!

And the best part — fresh cabbage included!
The dipping sauce comes too — what a lovely touch 😉

My personal favorite? The chicken skin!

And here’s the twist — the chicken skin is deep-fried! 😮
It looked so irresistible fresh out of the fryer that I couldn’t help sneaking a bite, even though it was supposed to be takeout (^^;;

Crispy and crunchy — like an addictive snack!!!
Perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. Absolutely delicious (=^^=)

Next up is the owner’s signature recommendation: the chicken & shrimp skewer!

A delicious collaboration of shell-on shrimp and tender chicken!!!

The shrimp shells are crisped to perfection — total flavor explosion 😋 My very first time trying it, and I was hooked ✨

Another crowd favorite: pork-wrapped asparagus.

And one more from the pork lineup: pork belly wrapped around enoki mushrooms.

The savory richness of the pork pairs beautifully with the veggies!!! (*^^*)

And finally — the chicken wing!
