Introducing Okashiya favori

Hello there!
I’m Maru, a writer for Sarukuma.

Today I’m taking you to
a wonderfully modern sweet shop where cakes, baked confections, AND bread all share the same charming space.

Located in Shimamachi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture,
welcome to “Okashiya favori”.

Look at that beautifully stylish exterior!

The shop sits just a short distance from Nishi-Kumamoto Station,
right along Prefectural Route 51. You’ll spot it on your right.

There’s a small parking area in front of the shop, plus a much larger lot around the back.
The staff mentioned the rear parking is the easier option for getting in and out!

The interior is sleek, sophisticated, and wonderfully spacious 😍

The parking lot is right there, just steps away!

Wide doors, flat floors, and roomy aisles —
ideal for visitors traveling with little ones or pushing a stroller 👦👧

And there’s even a spot here where kids can sit and wait!

Along one wall…

There must be around 20 different varieties — choosing is half the fun! ( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ )

One that caught my eye? The signature sablé stamped with the shop’s name (110 yen)!

Each one is sprinkled with grains of Danish sea salt!
That sweet-and-salty contrast — definitely a sophisticated, grown-up flavor ✨

And how adorable is this PANDA cookie (220 yen)? 🐼

The perfect snack for kids 👦👧

Assorted baked sweet boxes make wonderful gifts and souvenirs!

And next up,
here come the cakes 🍰
plus purin (Japanese custard pudding), dacquoise, and other irresistible treats!

Traditional French confections also line the case — a uniquely sophisticated lineup that’s signature favori 💓

Since I dropped by in the late afternoon, a few items had already sold out.
But a fresh batch was about to come out of the oven, too.

And here’s the bread corner ♪
Yes, it does look a bit empty… a few loaves had already sold out by the time of my visit (^^;;

The bread selection happened to be smaller than usual that day.
The staff explained it was because of the pre-Christmas rush — normally there’s much more to choose from!

Just look at this Croquant (170 yen) — doesn’t it look incredible? 😋
The other breads got me curious too!

Chocolate Sponge with Chocolate Cream Sandwich — 350 yen

Pistachio brûlée was a first for me 😍

The contrast of green, red, and white is simply gorgeous 💓

One spoonful…
then another…

Savoring that beautiful blend of flavors and colors 😊

The deep, rich pistachio flavor absolutely knocked me out!

My daughter, a true chocolate fan, devoured hers in seconds (´∀｀*)
That alone is proof of how delicious it was!

I had a bite myself, and the elegant sweetness — and the sponge itself — were simply incredible 😋

Next time, I definitely want to come back for the baked sweets and breads too!
