About the Bakery
Hello, travelers!
This is Asukarando, your SaruKuma writer.
Today’s spotlight is on Sakurai-cho, Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, home to the wonderfully named “Fuuki no Tou Pan Koubou” bakery.
Located right by Minamata Station, this adorable bakery is easy to spot thanks to its cute illustrations and stylish green-and-white striped roof. (^-^)/
Parking is available in space “#1” next to the shop, and the staff also said it’s fine to park right in front of the store.
Here’s a peek inside Fuuki no Tou Pan Koubou! (^-^)
I visited just past lunchtime, so a few of the bread baskets were already empty—a great sign that the locals love this place.

Cozy wooden tables and chairs with a festive Christmas vibe. (^q^)
The whole shop is dressed up for Christmas! ☆
And how cute is this little Santa-hat boy figurine? He looks just like the character on Fuuki no Tou Pan Koubou’s signboard. (^-^)/
And look — I spotted what appears to be Fuuki no Tou Pan Koubou’s mobile sales van!
Spotting this adorable wagon rolling around town would absolutely make your day. ☆

This time, I picked up the Melon Pan — 150 yen (Japan’s beloved sweet melon-flavored bun).
Unlike the typical melon pan with that crisscross pattern on top, this one has a beautifully smooth, glossy surface!

It was gone in a flash!
One bite of this melon pan and I knew I had to come back to try the rest of the lineup. (^-^)
I’m already wondering what to grab on my next visit.
Decisions, decisions!
If you’re traveling through Minamata, do yourself a favor and stop by Fuuki no Tou Pan Koubou for some seriously delicious bread. \(^o^)/
