Today I’m excited to introduce
Shimojo, Oguni Town, Aso District‘s gem,
【Saien no Kaze】 (which translates to “Garden Breeze”).A welcoming sign greets you at the entrance!
And just a 10-minute drive away, you’ll find the famous Tsuetate Onsen hot springs ♫
There’s a spacious gravel parking lot right in front of the restaurant, which makes things super convenient!
The beautifully crafted building had me buzzing with anticipation ♡
The moment I stepped out of the car,
a refreshing breeze straight from Mount Aso swept past me!
I took a deep breath and let the crisp Aso air
cleanse me from head to toe!
Saien no Kaze features lots of natural wood throughout.
The cozy, organic atmosphere instantly puts you at ease ♫
There’s also an open-air terrace seating area ♫
At Saien no Kaze, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Aso mountains while savoring
pesticide-free, homegrown vegetables and herbs harvested straight from the field in front of you ☆
What a spectacular location ☆

Stepping inside at last~
The interior of Saien no Kaze is also generously decked out in warm wood, and
combined with the breathtaking Aso scenery,
the result is pure magic ♡♡
Even the restrooms
and washbasins use natural wood,
so the entire space feels welcoming and instantly calming.

Here’s the à la carte menu.
Even single dishes come with a side salad!

Amatriciana — 950 yen

Soyokaze Set — 1,400 yen

For the set menu pasta, you can choose from
Amatriciana, Mushroom Spaghetti, or Ortolana.
There’s also Caprese — 600 yen available à la carte!
This time, I went with the “Saien-fu” Set for 1,600 yen.

*I forgot to snap a picture, but the homemade bread had a wonderful aroma of wheat and was absolutely delicious!
The Ortolana —
rich, well-balanced flavors that are simply delicious!!!!

By the way, if you’re dining with kids,
the staff will kindly ask whether you’d like chili pepper added to the pasta —

Every dish was crafted with care and passion,
and not a single one disappointed!

A delicious lunch enjoyed with sweeping views of the Aso mountains — and excellent value for money!
