Introducing COMMON IDOE
Hello there!
This is Maru, writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’m taking you to Kosa Town in Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
to a place called “COMMON IDOE”.
The former Idoekyo Campground was given a fresh new look and reopened in July!

Are you a camping fan?
Honestly, my family doesn’t go camping at all! (lol)
(Yep, total beginners over here!)
For camping newbies like us, the best way in is
today’s super-trendy glamping experience!!
So, I went to check it out for myself.

The site is along Prefectural Route 220 by the Midori River β just cross Idoekyo Bridge and you’re there.

There’s a guests-only parking lot in the back with 15 spaces.
You can also park at the nearby Kyushu Electric Power lot.

Stylish container-style buildings and giant tents are there to greet you!
The site is wrapped in nature, surrounded by mountains.
And it sits right along the river, too.
There was even a family hanging out with their dog!
Pet-friendly β what a treat!

Just one level below the buildings, you’ll find the river.
Walk down the steps to a concrete platform that leads right to the water.

What a beautiful spot β blessed with both water and greenery!

Note: swimming is not allowed.
Kids should always be accompanied by an adult when playing in the water β please follow the rules! (^ ^)
Here’s the view of the buildings looking back from the riverside.
Pretty stylish, right? (=^^=)

This is the reception building. It even has a vending machine, which is super handy!

Here’s the price list.
Glamping sites are charged as accommodation fee + meal fee.
Bring-your-own-tent sites are charged as site fee + entry fee.
Glamping site stays come with both breakfast and dinner included β
so convenient! βͺπ₯π
BBQ is part of the experience.
For full details, please check the official website (^ ^)

Here’s the list of guest guidelines.

On the grounds, there’s a combo bookstore-cafe…

…plus a unique shop that mixes a florist (selling lovely dried flower wreaths)
with an outdoor goods boutique.

Behind the wash station, you’ll even find shower rooms!
Restrooms are inside the reception building, complete with a diaper changing station!
Best of all, since the entire facility is brand new,
everything feels clean and pleasant to use (=^^=)
Why We Recommend COMMON IDOE

Now for the main attraction!
Behind the reception building you’ll find the glamping sites.

This is a glamping site for 4 people βͺ
There are 4 of these. The tent at the back is for sleeping; the front area is for dining and relaxing.
Get this β beds, futons, lanterns,
air conditioning, fans, electric kettles, and more are all included! ππ
Well, that’s pretty much the definition of glamping β but still! π
There are plenty more amenities, so check the official site for the full list (^ ^)
Here’s the inside of the 4-person glamping tent.
Shot through the mesh screen π¦
You can faintly see mattresses, futons, cushions, a table, and a rug (^^;;
Sorry π I took photos inside afterwards, but they came out way too blurry… π
For much better-looking photos, please visit the official site!

And here’s the 2-person glamping site βͺ There are 4 of these as well.
These also come with a table area beside the tent.
Partitions keep your space nicely private π

This was taken during cleaning, so the sheets aren’t on yet.
Just soak in the vibe! π
The 2-person sites have futons only (no bed mattresses).
No air conditioning either β just an electric fan.
And here are the BYO tent sites β 10 plots in total.
They’re right next to the buildings, so you can use the restrooms and showers without any worries!
Inspired by Hiroshi Camp on YouTube, solo camping is absolutely an option, too!
Even solo female campers are on the rise β this is the perfect spot for them!
Ready to escape the everyday?
Why not try a hassle-free glamping getaway?
We update our Instagram daily, too!
At Sarukuma, we share information aimed at families with kids in Kumamoto β from lunches to parks to indoor playgrounds.
We’d love a follow! (*Β΄βο½*)
