This is Binako, a writer for Sarukuma, still grinning over the fact that I scored seven out of eight items at the supermarket on half-price discount — for a grand total of just 750 yen!

Today I’m taking you to OMOKEN PARK, located in Kamitori-machi, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City — a cafe that locals and travelers alike are buzzing about.

As you stroll along Kamitori shopping arcade,
this place stops you in your tracks with its incredibly open, eye-catching exterior.
Stepping through the entrance feels like wandering into a storybook world.

At the entrance, you’ll spot quirky-yet-charming art pieces — wonderfully unique and undeniably cute!

Just inside the entrance is a cozy indoor space — a perfect spot to relax, even if you’re flying solo.

Head deeper inside, and you’ll find a lush, garden-like seating area
filled with greenery and an airy, open feel —
perfect for parents and kids to unwind together.

Head up to the second floor, and you’ll find a rooftop space with an even bigger sense of openness!

There’s even a hammock — a playful little corner that begs you to kick back and relax.

And of course, once you’re up on the second floor, you can’t resist peeking down at Kumamoto’s famous Kamitori arcade from above — what a view!

You might just find yourself wanting to shout “Yahoo!” from the rooftop.

Inside the cafe, more delightful art pieces add to the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

This little fellow looks just like Where’s Waldo — totally adorable!

And this stylish piece — sleek, sturdy, and so cool you’ll want to give it a name of its own!

The eco-friendly stainless steel straw is such a stylish touch —
and every time it gently clinks against the glass,
that soft “clink!” sound is unexpectedly soothing.

The rich, deep coffee flavor goes down so smoothly,
and the creamy, mellow milk in the latte is absolutely divine.

Add in the wonderfully open atmosphere, and your mood is sure to lift!
