Hello there, fellow travelers!
My toes are practically frozen solid in this chilly weather β
it’s Sarukuma writer Bunako here!
Today I’m taking you to
“Buffet Restaurant Ginnan,”
located in Ninomaru, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City.

The restaurant sits inside Sakura no Baba Johsaien, the popular shopping and dining complex right next to Kumamoto Castle.
Since there’s no on-site parking, simply use one of the designated nearby parking lots and stroll right in! βͺ

Ginnan is an all-you-can-eat buffet, and the prices are seriously friendly:
Adults: 1,600 yen (weekdays) / 1,900 yen (weekends & holidays)
Children: 800 yen (weekdays) / 950 yen (weekends & holidays) β kids under 3 eat free!
Wednesday Ladies’ Day Special: 1,280 yen
Great value for an unlimited Japanese-style spread! βͺ

Don’t have time to sit down? No problem β they offer takeout featuring Amakusa Daio, Kumamoto’s famous heritage giant chicken breed:
Karaage (Japanese fried chicken): 500 yen
Tebasaki (chicken wings): 800 yen
A must-try Kumamoto specialty!

Right by the entrance, there’s a life-size display of the chicken wing so you can see exactly how huge they are (*Β΄Πο½)
Photos really don’t do it justice β
these wings are MASSIVE! lol
Recommended Menu Item

This time, I went for the takeout option:
Amakusa Daio Chicken Wing β 800 yen
It’s so big, it actually feels heavy in your hand! (*Β΄Πο½)w

Yep, that’s me lol
Can you tell how big it is? It’s literally about the same size as my (rather large!) face.
And the taste? Absolutely incredible!
It’s chicken, but with a meaty, satisfying bite that feels almost like beef.
Every mouthful is pure happiness β seriously, I was grinning the whole time! lol
You have to try this at least once.
Next time, I’m definitely going for the karaage too! βͺ
If you’re sightseeing around Kumamoto Castle, make sure to add Ginnan to your list β you won’t regret it!
