Hello, fellow travelers!

I once walked all the way to a convenience store just to grab some snacks
and came back surprisingly exhausted —
this is Binako, your SaruKuma writer!!

Today I’m introducing a delightful little spot called
“Oyatsumura Kintaro”,
located in Hikimizu, Ozu Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The shop is tucked inside a Michi-no-Eki (roadside station).
Everyone working here is super friendly and welcoming ♪

Beef Croquette — 220 yen
Jumbo Pork Belly Skewer — 350 yen
Beef Short Rib Skewer — 350 yen
Jumbo Chicken Skewer — 350 yen

They’ve got skewers too — and JUMBO ones at that. Perfect for when you’re really hungry (*´Д`)

Kintaro Manju (all flavors) — 110 yen
Black bean paste, white bean paste, custard, and chestnut paste

Grilled Corn — 1 cob, 400 yen
Grilled corn on the cob is just wonderful…
Kids love it too ♪

Jumbo Takoyaki — 8 pieces, 450 yen
Jumbo Fried Takoyaki — 6 pieces 350 yen / 8 pieces 450 yen
For takoyaki, you can choose from four flavors:
Classic sauce, ponzu (citrus soy), salt sauce, or kimchi topping

That kimchi topping is calling my name~~ (*´Д`)

Recommended Menu Item

This time, I held back my kimchi cravings and went with
Jumbo Takoyaki with Salt Sauce — 450 yen
instead!!

The staff even kindly asked if I wanted mayonnaise — such a thoughtful touch ♪

Jumbo for real!
Each ball is seriously huge.
The densely packed batter locks in all that delicious umami flavor.

The octopus is HUGE too!!
What a happy surprise~~~!

The octopus pieces are jumbo-sized as well.
So satisfying to bite into.
The salt sauce gives it a light, refreshing finish.
The classic sauce is great, but salt sauce is downright addictive…

The pickled red ginger on the side plays a perfect supporting role,
and the whole thing disappeared in no time.

Next time, I want to try the grilled corn and the kimchi takoyaki for sure…

Definitely give this place a try when you’re in the area~~!
