and I just got a serious shock at how expensive bicycles have become
while shopping for my child’s birthday gift!

Today, I’d like to introduce you to
a wonderful bakery in Koyama, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City:
“Rojipan Koyama”.

Rojipan’s stylish romanized logo has a wonderful charm to it.
The wooden exterior gives off a warm, inviting vibe that hints at the cozy atmosphere inside.

There’s parking for about 5–6 cars right in front of the shop,
so visiting by car is no problem at all!

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by an irresistible array of fresh bread.

From hearty hard-crust loaves to sweet pastries and savory bread,
there’s such a wide variety that even kids will have a blast picking their favorites! ♪

Even the wall shelves are lined with a generous selection of bread!

You’ll also find rusks and beautifully crafted breads displayed throughout the shop ♪

Mixed Sandwich – 330 yen, and…

Tandoori Chicken & Tuna Basil Sandwich – 260 yen
Egg Sandwich – 230 yen
They have a lovely variety of sandwiches too!

Loaded Olive Oil Bread – 410 yen
The name alone — “loaded olive oil” — sparks immediate curiosity.
Dip your bread in it, and the flavor is so divine you’ll feel like you’re floating!

Drinks are also available!
From juice boxes to fresh coffee — there’s something to please both adults and kids.

Plus, the shop has a cozy eat-in area right inside.
Kids’ chairs are available too, making this a wonderfully family-friendly spot for visitors with young children.

There’s also a charming terrace,
perfect for enjoying your bread outdoors on a sunny Kumamoto day!

A bread filled with sweet red bean paste and sweet potato — a wonderful nod to Kumamoto’s beloved local sweet, “Ikinari Dango.”
If you’re a fan of Ikinari Dango, this one’s a must-try!

This time, I picked up:
Pistachio Sandwich – 180 yen
Chicken & Lotus Root Tartine – 200 yen

The cheese was generously piled on top — pure indulgence!

And inside, you’ll find tender chicken tucked in!

This is absolutely delicious!
The black pepper sprinkled on top of the cheese adds a lovely aromatic kick,
and the crispy crunch of the lotus root makes for the perfect textural accent.

The chicken inside is juicy and pairs beautifully with the cheese.
The bread is hard-crusted on the outside but wonderfully chewy inside,
and each bite releases the rich umami of cheese and the savory aroma of chicken.

Simply amazing!

Here’s the Pistachio Sandwich.

Get ready to be amazed by the unbelievable amount of pistachio cream packed inside.
Can you spot the chunks of whole pistachios in there?

Eat carefully — the cream is so abundant it threatens to overflow with every bite!
You’ll enjoy the satisfying texture of pistachios mixed into the cream,
with a gentle, not-too-sweet flavor and the unmistakable nutty taste of pistachio.

And the bread itself? Outstanding.
It’s chewy and soft yet has a satisfying bite,
letting you fully appreciate the natural flavor of the dough.

Watch out for the back end — the cream might just spill out!
