Hello, travelers!
This is Asukarando, your Sarukuma writer.

Today I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem located in
Meitoku-machi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City:
“Age-Man” tempura restaurant.

Look out for this signboard along National Route 3 — that’s how you’ll spot this charming tempura spot (^-^)
Since the owners originally ran a fish shop,
you can expect incredibly fresh sashimi and plump, top-quality seafood ingredients.

The entrance features a ramp, so it’s stroller-friendly — great news for families with little ones (^-^)

The parking lot is nice and spacious (^^)

There’s a traditional tatami room (zashiki) where you can sit back and savor the delicious tempura at your own pace — a wonderful authentic Japanese experience.

Children’s chairs are available too.

Plenty of regular table seating too.

There’s even counter seating, where you can enjoy the sizzling sounds of tempura being fried right in front of you (^^)

Payment options are cash and PayPay only — so be sure to come prepared!

Recommended Menu

This time, I ordered the Meat Lover’s Set Meal (Niku-mori Teishoku) (^o^)

It includes 2 pieces of pork loin, 2 pieces of chicken, and 3 kinds of vegetables,

making for an impressive generous portion (^o^)

Each piece is brought to your table freshly fried, one by one.
I couldn’t resist and rearranged things a bit, so the presentation is a little different from the staff’s original arrangement…
My apologies!

You also get complimentary ika no shiokara (salted squid) as a side (^-^)/

Since I shared with my child,
I’d recommend ordering one or two à la carte items if you’d like a bit more.

We added some kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) tempura (^o^)
The rice portion is also large, so it was just right when shared with my child.

There was also a limited-time Tempura Zaru Udon available!

The small packet mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and stir-fried takana (pickled mustard greens) are
all-you-can-eat (^-^)/

Perfect rice companions! (^^;

Here are the other menu items (^-^)/

For just 500 yen extra, you can add a sashimi side~ (^-^)

Takeout is also available~ (^-^)

Owner’s Recommendation ☆ The kamameshi (rice cooked in a small iron pot) looks delicious too.

With its excellent fresh sashimi,
this is a place that grandparents
would love too — perfect for multi-generational outings (^^)
