Hello travelers!
This is Binako, a writer for《Sarukuma》!

Today I’m excited to introduce you to
a fantastic spot in Tsukure, Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
“Fujii no Karaage Kikuyo Branch” — a beloved Japanese fried chicken (karaage) shop!

This is a long-established karaage shop, so it’s well-known among locals (^^)

The parking lot is diagonally across from the shop with about 4 spaces available^^
Heads up — the gravel area next to the shop belongs to a different property, so don’t park there by mistake!!

Inside, there’s a comfortable bench
where customers can sit while waiting for their orders to be prepared^^

If you’re traveling with children, this is perfect — you can relax together while you wait ♪

Near the bench, you’ll spot the lyrics to the famous Fujii no Karaage song posted on the wall!
Wait, does everyone in Japan know this song?

I had no idea it existed… oh well!

They also sell sumibi-yaki (charcoal-grilled chicken)
at 500 yen per pack!

Charcoal-grilled chicken is so delicious (´;ω;`)
It’s seriously tempting!

Here’s the main menu^^

Karaage-kun (fried chicken), Tori-arare (chicken bites), Tebaage (fried wings)

Zuri-kara-kun (fried gizzards), Poppo Chips, Potato

Gift Box: 800 yen / 1,100 yen / 1,600 yen

Family Pack: 2,700 yen

Party Platter: 3,800 yen

From single items to large packs,
there’s something for any group size (*´Д`)

Here’s the detailed price list ( *´艸`)
It shows approximate piece counts based on grams, which makes ordering super easy ♪

Recommended Menu

This time I ordered:

Potato: 150 yen

Karaage-kun: 100g for 216 yen

The potatoes…

Fresh out of the fryer and absolutely incredible!!
Super crispy and impossible to stop eating!!

The container has a flat-bottom design that makes it easy to grab each piece — a nice touch!

SO CRUNCHY

Every bite makes that satisfying crunch sound.
The crispiness just keeps going and going!

Next up — the Karaage-kun.

The batter is unbelievably delicious.
Freshly fried, so the texture is perfect too.

That irregular, hand-shaped form is part of the charm.

Mmmmmm~~~~~!!!!

The salt level is absolutely perfect!!

The well-seasoned salt clings to the crispy batter
and pairs beautifully with the juicy chicken!!

I literally couldn’t stop eating.

Travelers visiting Kumamoto, you have to come try this perfectly salted karaage for yourself!
