Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Binako,
your ever-hungry Sarukuma writer!

Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to
a hidden gem in Jinnai, Ozu Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“bread & coffee BeTREE”.

This charming little shop sits quietly along the roadside…

If you don’t know it’s there, you might just drive right past — but
that would be such a missed opportunity!

So bookmark this spot and be sure to stop by!

Right out front, you’ll find a parking lot that is

SUPER SPACIOUS

so you can park with total peace of mind — perfect for travelers with rental cars.

Inside, you can also grab a drink to go.
The drink selection is wonderfully varied and stylishly presented!

It looks like plenty of locals stop by just for a beverage too ♪

Right next to the counter, there’s a shop schedule posted —
I definitely recommend checking it when you visit (*´Д`)

And now, the stars of the show — the bread!

Just look at this lineup.

It’s like a jewel box of bread.

This Chorizo bread (240 yen) blew me away with the sheer size of the pork frankfurter inside!

Each piece is genuinely beautiful.
This is a bakery you can enjoy with your eyes as much as your taste buds.

I happened to arrive just as fresh-baked bread was being set out —
and wow, did it shine.

You can really feel the care, creativity, and countless test batches that went into each loaf —
the BeTREE team’s passion truly comes through. Take a look.

Here’s a brand-new menu item:

Marron (Chestnut) and Cream — 210 yen

Absolutely heavenly.

You’ll also find scones and

cookies on display too.

Everything is handmade and looks irresistibly delicious.
Honestly, I wanted to buy one of every single thing.

There’s even peanut butter and homemade jams for sale ^^

And great news for families and elderly visitors:
the restroom is a universal-access (multipurpose) restroom,
so you can browse the shop with peace of mind.

They accept credit cards and mobile Pay payments ^^
A huge plus for international travelers!

Recommended Menu Items

This time around, I tried:

Calzone — 180 yen

Azuki (Sweet Red Bean) — 140 yen

Orange and Chocolate — 190 yen

Let’s dive in!

First, the Calzone

just look at that sausage peeking out!

The dough wraps around the sausage like a cozy little blanket.
My child gobbled this one down so fast
I didn’t even have time to snap a proper photo.

Yeah… I get it… it’s just THAT good…

Next up, the Azuki bun.
It’s adorably stamped with the shop’s logo.

The dough is made using the yudane (hot-water kneaded) method,
and let me tell you — yes, yes, yes — it is unbelievably delicious.

Chewy and soft, with this incredible umami depth from the dough itself.

And the azuki red bean filling inside? Phenomenal.
Not too sweet — it pairs perfectly with the dough. You could keep eating these forever.

The size and portion are spot-on.

Finally, the Orange and Chocolate bread —

Oh my, this one is irresistible.
The sweetness of the chocolate is balanced beautifully by the bright zing of orange!

(Sorry for the half-eaten photo!)

The chocolate alone is already incredible.
If you love sweet treats but want something more nuanced than just plain sugar,
you absolutely have to try this one.

And one more thing — although it was sold out during my visit and I couldn’t feature it,
BeTREE’s most legendary item is

the [Campagne (Country Loaf)]!

This naturally leavened bread flies off the shelves at lightning speed!
I specifically came hoping to grab one and it was already gone, so
I highly recommend checking their Instagram for updates before you visit!

The bread jewel box, BeTREE — please go and experience it for yourself!
