The rainy season has just ended and the hot days are already rolling in…

Today I’m introducing a charming spot located in
Chuogai, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture
“Fam Oriental Bistro Cafe”.
This two-story restaurant sits just a short walk from Tsuruya Parking.
A friendly chalkboard sign at the entrance makes it easy to spot ♪
The first floor features counter seating.
Upstairs you’ll find sofa seats, table seats,
and a traditional Japanese-style raised tatami area (koagari).
Baby chairs are also available for the table seating.
Open from lunch through dinner, this versatile spot is perfect for any time of day.
They also offer seasonal parfaits, and right now the
Whole Peach Parfait at ¥850 is a huge hit!!!
It features a whole locally grown Kumamoto peach ♪
The dessert lineup is impressively rich ☆
They have a wide variety of coffee and other drinks, and for just an extra ¥100, you can swap to a tapioca (bubble tea) drink ♪
The drink menu is wonderfully varied, perfect for a relaxed cafe break!
They even offer stylish vinegar-based drinks ☆

Recommended Menu at Fam Oriental Bistro Cafe

I dropped by during lunchtime and found the menu wonderfully easy to navigate.
It features a popular signature lineup plus a monthly rotating menu.
(Note: items shown in the photos may have since changed.)

The Special Roast Beef Bowl, limited to just 10 servings a day at ¥980,
was already sold out by the time I arrived at 12:30 — likely because it was a weekend!
Here’s the Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken) One-Plate Lunch at ¥680!
For this kind of generous portion, ¥680 is an absolute steal ☆
And here we have the
Green Curry & Butter Chicken Curry Combo with Salad at ¥880.
Doesn’t a curry combo just feel like such a great deal? (laughs)
Two flavors enjoyed on a single plate — pure bliss ♪

I love curry but can’t handle anything too spicy,
and even for me, this had a perfectly balanced spice level — flavorful without overwhelming heat. Truly delicious!!

The restaurant proudly uses locally grown Kumamoto vegetables,
features a chef who honed his skills in Southeast Asia,
and even offers craft beer flights — a real treat for beer lovers ♪
