A Look Back at January

We hosted another wonderful session of “Kasumiso Hiroba,” the parent-child gathering born from Sarukuma, Kumamoto Prefecture’s beloved parenting website!

This time, we were thrilled to welcome Akko-sensei from “balloon,” a popular eurhythmics (rhythmic music) class based right here in Kumamoto City!

The session kicked off with gentle parent-child bonding activities.
Akko-sensei believes deeply in the power of live music, so she brought along her own piano and guitar — playing in real time as she watched the moms and little ones respond to every note. ♩

The kids were absolutely captivated by Akko-sensei!
Even the tiniest babies could grip the egg-shaped maracas, joining in by shaking, swaying, and grooving along to the music!Akko-sensei has joined us many times now, but she always brings a fresh program — so even our team gets excited every single visit!
This time we had balloons, confetti, and so much more…
And to wrap things up, a whole collection of instruments came out, letting everyone explore different sounds and ways to play!

This time we’ll be doing Mama Yoga — a fun yoga session where moms use their little ones as adorable “weights”!

Restrooms: Western-style toilets, no baby seat, but there’s a diaper-changing station in the multipurpose room
Nursing is welcome too!
Need a hand with anything? Don’t hesitate to ask — we’re happy to help.
You don’t need to live in Koshi City, and you don’t need a baby — everyone is welcome to join!
If your child cries, runs around, you arrive late, or have to leave early — no problem at all!
They’re kids, after all — that’s just how it goes! Don’t worry about a thing!

Every month, the principal of Yusui Nursery School Toyooka joins us at Kasumiso Hiroba.
She brings along all sorts of goodies — toys, props, and even a height/weight scale for the families to use.
She’s happy to chat about anything from finding the right nursery school to what it’s actually like working at one — perfect for anyone curious about early childhood education in Japan.
During our gatherings, you’ll often spot babies happily perched on her lap! (laughs)
