Today I’m excited to introduce you to
Kamitori-machi, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City‘s very own
【Kumamoto Fruit Parlor Fruit Mer】!

Opened this past March, this is a charming cafe & bar where you can enjoy seasonal fruits at their freshest —
truly a fruit lover’s dream spot ♪
Located right along Namikizaka street, you can’t miss it!
Here’s the welcoming entrance to Fruit Mer.
Takeout Menu Highlights:
Large Smoothie — ¥680
Fruit Candy (Fruit Ame) — ¥450
Fresh-Squeezed Fruit Juice — from ¥400

I’m so curious about the flavor — what a unique twist on a classic Japanese treat.
Dine-In Menu.
Choose between parfaits, smoothies, and waffles —
and pick your favorite fruit to go with them!
This time I treated myself and went straight for one of the special-recommendation items:
Golden Peach Parfait — ¥1,500!
While waiting for my order, I had a look around the shop.
Fruit Mer also offers gift shipping,
so you can send seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables
tailored to the time of year and destination — a lovely souvenir option!
The shop is brimming with fresh fruits and vegetables on display!
One thing that personally caught my eye:
Mashiki’s “Seriously Delicious” Eggs — ¥150
With a name like that, they have to be good!
Red-flesh melon, kiwi, prunes, Black Rainier cherries —
plus bell peppers, cabbage, asparagus, and more.
The parfaits, smoothies, and fruit cocktails
are made using these very same fresh ingredients lined up in the shop.
The Golden Peach I ordered came all the way from Yamanashi Prefecture.
It looks heavenly already!!
Inside, the seating is mostly comfy sofa-style.
A perfect spot to relax with friends or fellow travelers ♪
There’s also a counter just in front of the sofa seats!
A turtle here,
fish there — there’s plenty to keep you entertained while you wait,
and kids will absolutely love it ♪
In the evenings, in addition to fruit cocktails,
they also offer all-you-can-drink menu options!

And here’s what I tried —
Golden Peach Parfait — ¥1,500
The second I saw it, I couldn’t help blurting out “Stunning!!”
An entire whole golden peach, sitting right on top!!!!
The golden peach is beautifully presented like edible artwork!
Look at that gorgeous, plump shape!
The presence of that golden peach is something else!
Using a spoon and fork,
I carefully lifted the peach off the top.
Underneath — it’s loaded with even more goodies!
And one bite later: “WOW, that’s amazing!”
That fresh golden peach is incredible!
The prunes and Black Rainier cherries on the side
are so juicy and bursting with flavor too!!!
By the way, Fruit Mer also takes orders for
fruit bouquets — yes, beautiful bouquets made entirely of fresh fruit!
Lucky me — I got to see a freshly made fruit bouquet right out of the workshop!
You can practically feel the freshness radiating off it.
Each piece is pre-cut for easy eating, making it the perfect gift idea ♪

Forgive your mom for devouring something this delicious all by herself…
Out of guilt, I bought one of the fresh golden peaches I’d just enjoyed,
and even popped a coin in the donation box on my way out.

Fruit Mer’s parfaits are loaded with fresh fruit and seriously generous in size, but
they can also be sized down to a kid-friendly portion,
so next time I’ll definitely bring the whole family along ♪
