About Eco Park Minamata (Sato Zone)
Hello travelers! This is Asukarando, a writer for [Sarukuma].
Today, I’d love to introduce you to Eco Park Minamata (Sato Zone), located in
Shiomi-machi, Minamata City.
Eco Park Minamata is incredibly spacious, divided into three distinct zones: Sea, Mountain, and Sato (countryside).
This time, we’ll be exploring the charming Sato Zone! (^Π·^)-β
We’ve covered Eco Park Minamata before on Sarukuma, so feel free to check out these articles too!
The land where Eco Park Minamata stands today has a meaningful history. It was created by reclaiming Minamata Bay to safely contain mercury-contaminated sludge from the bay floor β a legacy of the historic Minamata disease incident β and was later transformed into this beautiful park.
Today, the bay sparkles with clear blue water, and Eco Park Minamata has become a wonderful gathering place for families and visitors alike (*^.^*)
There’s a huge parking lot with plenty of space!
As soon as you enter the park from the parking lot, you’ll find restrooms β very convenient!
There are also vending machines on-site, so you don’t have to worry if you run out of drinks (^^)
You can spot the large playground equipment in the distance, but right at the entrance, there’s a lovely grassy lawn area complete with covered rest spaces (^^)
Lush trees provide plenty of shade!
With the sea so close by, refreshing breezes drift through the park (^^)
As the cooler seasons approach, you might want to bring a jacket or light layer to stay comfortable.
Between the parking lot and the playground area, you’ll find tables and benches scattered throughout β you could easily relax here without even needing a picnic mat!
There are lots of oak trees, so we had a great time collecting acorns too! (^^)
Hand-washing stations are available too β very handy!
Top Highlights of Eco Park Minamata (Sato Zone)
The first thing that catches your eye is the giant red fish-shaped playground structure!
There are tons of adventurous play structures designed to spark kids’ sense of challenge!
There’s even a Tarzan rope (zip line)!
The ground is covered with soft cushioned material, so even if a child falls, parents can feel reassured (^Π·^)-β
The structures are designed to be climbed from many different sides, and we saw lots of younger children playing here.
Even the slightly higher steps invited little adventurers to think, “Maybe I can do it!” and give it a try (^^)
And of course! There are also lower-level play structures and slides perfect for toddlers and smaller kids (^Π·^)-β
There are even musical play instruments that make a variety of fun sounds!
There’s a sandpit too!
The sand here is fine and silky, just like sand at a beach β it almost feels like a day at the seaside! (*^.^*)
There’s also a waterbed-style play feature that makes you feel like you’re walking on water!
There are still so many more play features, but honestly, there are too many to introduce one by one! (>.<)y-~
There’s also a walking course, and the park is just so vast!
Even a full day might not be enough to enjoy all the playground equipment! (*^.^*)
With so many play structures, kids of all ages can find something they love (^-^)v
Come and spend a fun-filled day at Eco Park Minamata (Sato Zone) β you won’t regret it!
