Introducing Asobi Park PLUS Sakuramachi Kumamoto
Hello, travelers! I’m Aikero, a writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’m excited to share a fantastic family spot located in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City:
Asobi Park PLUS Sakuramachi Kumamoto.
This indoor playground is packed with activities that spark children’s creativity, exercise their bodies, and stimulate their senses!
No need to worry about heat, cold, or rainy days — kids can run wild year-round.
The pedal cars, designed in collaboration with Sanko Bus, are a must-see for any little vehicle enthusiast!
The friendly staff are wonderful with children, offering kind encouragement throughout your visit.
Plus, the toys are sanitized regularly, so the entire facility feels clean and safe.
You’ll find it on the 3rd floor of Sakuramachi Kumamoto, right next to the namco game center.
Take the escalator at the main entrance to the 3rd floor, head toward the terrace side, and you’ll spot it at the back on the right.
There’s a stroller parking area near the entrance.
It’s lockable, so you don’t have to worry about mix-ups or theft.
Sorry the photo’s a bit hard to see!

Why Asobi Park PLUS Sakuramachi Kumamoto Is Worth a Visit
There’s a dedicated Baby Terrace for children up to 18 months old.
The area is gated off, so even crawling babies can play in safety.
A huge trampoline takes center stage in the middle of the play area.
Climb, jump, slide — kids can play any way they like.
That freedom is what makes it so special!
It looks like a ball pit, but it’s actually an interactive area where kids throw balls at a screen.
Throw balls at the sea creatures on screen and collect cards as rewards!
The bigger the creature, the more balls it takes to defeat — my kids and I were giving it everything we had! (laughs)
There’s even a large playground-style structure that feels like a real outdoor park.
Soft cushioned mats are placed in any potentially risky spots, so parents can step back a bit and just watch the fun unfold.
Here’s the “Guru-guru” spinning ride, recommended for ages 5 and up.
What does it do?
It’s hard to tell from the photo, but the ride is angled, so simply sitting on it makes you spin naturally.
It’s surprisingly fast though — hold on tight!
While waiting your turn, please stand back from the ride to keep everyone safe ♩
At the very back of the play area, vehicle-loving kids will be thrilled to find pedal cars created in collaboration with Sanko Bus.
There are special sandals provided — please be sure to wear them when riding.
My 2-year-old couldn’t reach the pedals, so I pushed from behind, but the pedals still spin on their own.
If your child can’t reach the pedals, keep an eye on their feet to make sure they don’t get caught.
The course is one-way only.
With the city view through the windows, kids really feel like real bus drivers! (^^)/
There’s also a fully-equipped play kitchen for serious pretend-cooking fun.
The selection of pretend ingredients is impressive!
My daughter was so excited by all the choices that she went on a shopping spree!
After playing, please return the toys to this box.
The staff regularly sanitize and reorganize them.
With so many guests visiting, it’s reassuring to see the staff disinfecting and tidying up throughout the day — it really makes the experience pleasant.
Behold, my daughter’s signature dish!
My son is putting cake into the washing machine — though in his mind, it’s probably the oven!
That free-spirited imagination is what makes pretend play so wonderful.
Cushions? Nope — these are DoNow blocks.
They’re surprisingly heavy, just like sandbags.
The staff make these themselves, and you’re free to stack them, knock them down, or use them however you like!
My husband and I built a house, and we trapped the kids inside! (laughs)
Normally we tell the kids not to make a mess, but here they can knock everything down to their hearts’ content — and they absolutely love it!
There are also fun cushions that make sounds when you step on them.
And there’s a great selection of BRIO toys!
There are two play areas with plenty of vehicles, so please share kindly with other guests.
The space itself isn’t huge, but it offers endless possibilities for imaginative play.
It’s the perfect size for parents to keep an eye on their kids without getting tired.
We also noticed the staff regularly chatting with the children — such a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
In this clean, well-maintained playground, kids’ creativity simply explodes.
Two hours fly by — children get so absorbed they hardly notice the time.
And the best part? You can come anytime, regardless of weather or temperature!
Sakuramachi Kumamoto also features a rooftop garden, so if your kids still have energy to spare, head up there for some fresh-air fun!
It’s a lush, green oasis that feels worlds away from the city below.
