Introducing Pizza and Cafe SOIL

Today I’m taking you to one of Kumamoto’s loveliest hidden gems — a stylish little pizzeria surrounded by forest where great food, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere come together.
It’s located in Gyokuto Town, Tamana District, and it’s called
Pizza and Cafe SOIL.

Because Pizza and Cafe SOIL sits deep in the mountains, you’re greeted by lush greenery and the kind of slow, peaceful atmosphere that feels miles from city life.

Pizza and Cafe SOIL has a stylish, calm vibe — the kind of place that’s absolutely worth the special trip.

Just when you start wondering “Wait, is there really a restaurant out here?” — this charming pizza-shaped sign appears. (Don’t worry, the road is wide enough for a regular family car.) Once you spot the sign, you’re almost there!

There are even kids’ chairs available — antique-style and adorable.

You’ll find authentic classics like Marinara and Margherita, plus a kid-friendly “Bambina” pizza perfect for little ones.

The menu also features fresh salads, dolce desserts, cakes, and gelato.

And here’s the drink menu. Takeout is available for an extra ¥100 box charge — perfect for a home gathering or picnic!

The classic Margherita,

and the Salmone e Aneto — featuring smoked salmon and fresh cream.
It was a lunch with my mom, so we picked something a little more grown-up!

True to authentic Neapolitan style, the dough was beautifully chewy and perfectly fired.
I couldn’t help focusing my camera on that gorgeous puffy crust.

Then came the SOIL Salad — so generous I had to ask “Are you sure this is the half size?!” (the half portion serves 1–2 people).

The vegetables come straight from local farmers and change daily.
Colorful, fresh, and bursting with nutrition!

Gazing out at the lush mountain scenery while enjoying authentic pizza — it was a meal that nourished both body and soul.
