Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Binako, a SaruKuma writer who can spend hours scrolling through food photos online.

Today I’m excited to introduce you to a wonderful spot in Shimouchida, Kikuka-machi, Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Anzu no Oka” (Apricot Hill).

This place is wonderfully spacious, offering not just playground equipment but a wide variety of outdoor activities to enjoy. ^^

Since you can easily spend an entire day here, I highly recommend bringing along a tent or a picnic blanket to make the most of your visit!

An ant? Or a caterpillar?

We discovered this mysterious monument on the grounds.

Can anyone tell me what this little creature is supposed to be?

According to my child, it’s definitely a caterpillar!!

The parking lot at Anzu no Oka also has a stand selling soft-serve ice cream and other treats, which is super convenient for a quick break. ^^

“Watch me!”
My son shouted as he dashed off into the distance.
As you may have noticed,
why on earth did he wear sandals?

Anzu no Oka is incredibly spacious, so proper sneakers are an absolute must!

There’s also a grass-skiing area (though my son couldn’t quite manage it yet), and since it’s set on a hill, the kids went a bit wild scrambling up from the bottom like little adventurers, lol.

With so many proper play structures around, that’s the part they chose to enjoy? Haha!

This looks like a regular slide,
but it actually has these little udder-shaped bumps along the inside.
I’m guessing they’re there to keep kids from sliding down too fast!

The play equipment ranges from challenging structures for older children to safer, gentler options for the little ones — there’s truly something for every age group!

Highlights & Recommended Features

You can also crawl through this fun rope tunnel,
emerging on the other side with a triumphant grin.

I really can’t say it enough — please wear proper shoes!!!

My son chose to walk backwards across the bridge leading to the giant slide.
I’m curious — which way would your little ones cross? (*´Д`)

This slide is incredibly long!
My son was a bit nervous on his first ride,
but he quickly got hooked and slid down again and again, having an absolute blast. (*´ω`*)

Adults can enjoy it too, so I highly recommend going down together with your kids! ( *´艸`)

The lush, nature-filled grounds are perfect for catching insects, and there’s even a stage area where some visitors were taking a relaxing break!

And here’s the best part — Anzu no Oka also has a designated barbecue area, so you and your group can enjoy a fun BBQ together! ^^
