๐Ÿ“Œ What you’ll learn in this article
A Sarukuma writer’s first-hand visit report on “Yu-tei Jogen no Tsuki,” a private onsen in Nagomi Town, Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture. Pricing starts from 1,800 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Saa-mama, a writer for Sarukuma.

Today I’m excited to introduce you to a true hidden gem of Kumamoto:

Located in Otaguro, Nagomi Town, Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
“Yu-tei Jogen no Tsuki” (ๆนฏไบญ ไธŠๅผฆใฎๆœˆ) โ€” a stunning private onsen retreat.

This onsen earned a coveted spot as the
5th place winner in Japan’s 2019 Onsen Election (“Beautiful Skin” / Uruhada Category) โ™ซ

There’s also a generously sized parking lot, so driving here is hassle-free.

The exterior strikes a sleek, sophisticated look in vermillion red and black โ€” a beautiful blend of modern design and traditional Japanese aesthetics!

The reception desk is right inside the entrance โ€” easy to find as soon as you walk in.

When you purchase your ticket, your check-out time is printed on it,
so be sure to stop by reception first!

If you sign up as a member, you get a special perk:
you can reserve a private bath room (yu-shitsu) in advance by phone.

Note: membership registration is only accepted in person at the venue!

Because this onsen is hugely popular and reservations are usually fully booked,
booking your private bath room ahead of time means no waiting
even during the busiest hours โ€” highly recommended (*^^*)

Our Recommendation

This time, I reserved the “Terigaki” room (70 minutes, 1,800 yen).

The room is beautifully clean and spacious,

The indoor bath is tile-lined and roomy enough for two people to soak comfortably (*^^*)
Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are all provided!

A reassuring touch: a phone call alerts you 10 minutes before your time is up โ™ช

From now through autumn, you can also enjoy the changing colors of the maple leaves โ€”
a beautiful traditional Japanese open-air bath (rotenburo) full of seasonal charm โ™ซ

Living up to its 5th-place ranking in the Beautiful Skin category, your skin will feel
silky smooth, plump, and incredibly soft
after just one soak. An absolutely amazing onsen experience! โ‰งโˆ€โ‰ฆ

You’ll also find vending machines for drinks and ice cream!

There’s a relaxing seating area too!
After being soothed body and soul by the onsen,
treating yourself to ice cream, a glass-bottle of milk, coffee, or juice is pure bliss โ™ฌ

With 13 different private bath rooms to choose from โ€”
each featuring both an indoor and outdoor bath โ€”
you can come back again and again to enjoy a different experience every time (*^^*)
