📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A SaruKuma writer visits the Koshi Manga Museum in Kumamoto and shares the full experience. Admission starts from just 300 yen. We cover family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.

Today we’re heading to the
Koshi Manga Museum,
located in Miyoshi, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The museum opened on July 22 with full cooperation from a Kumamoto-based NPO called the “Kumamoto Manga Museum Project” (nicknamed “KumaMan”).

While the manga aren’t available for borrowing, visitors are welcome to read and enjoy them right there on the spot.

You’ll also find the “Hang in There, Kumamon” drawings on display, donated to the prefecture after the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake.

The interior is filled with the gentle scent of wood, creating a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere — so we highly recommend setting aside plenty of time to enjoy your visit at a leisurely pace!

Admission is 300 yen for university students and adults, 100 yen for junior high and high school students, and free for elementary school children and younger. For frequent visitors, annual passes are a great deal at 1,500 yen for adults and 500 yen for junior high and high school students.
Around 300 manga in the rest area near the entrance are available to read for free, so it’s also worth dropping by just to get a feel for the place first.
