Introducing Karashima Park

Today I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem located in Karashima-cho, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City:
[Karashima Park].

Recently, this freshly renovated park has become a popular venue for downtown events. Let me show you around the new and improved Karashima Park! (*^^*)

The gentle slope leading up to the park brings back fond memories of how Karashima Park used to look.

Climb the slope and… surprise! A wide grassy lawn appears!

Surrounded by towering buildings and the iconic Kumamoto streetcars, this lush green space feels like stepping into another world. We got so excited that my child and I ended up playing tag right there on the spot! (((^_^;)

There are also stylish stone benches, almost like sculptures, where several people can sit comfortably together.

Clean and tidy restrooms are available right inside the park, too! (^^)v

There’s even a multipurpose restroom equipped with a diaper-changing station — such a relief for families with little ones!

For drinks, you’ll find vending machines at the coin parking lot directly in front of Sakuramachi Kumamoto.

For parking, the convenient Karashima Underground Parking is located right beneath the park!

There are also several coin parking lots within walking distance (^-^)
The park is super easy to reach by bus or streetcar, too — perfect for international visitors exploring downtown Kumamoto! (^^)v

Just be warned — kids almost always end up soaking wet by the time they leave… (((^_^;) so a change of clothes is a must!

In summer, you’ll often see kids running around barefoot, splashing in the water and having the time of their lives.

Nestled among downtown buildings, Karashima Park is the perfect place to relax on the grass and cool off with a splash on hot days. (*^^*)
Drop by while you’re shopping at Sakuramachi Kumamoto or strolling along Shimotori Arcade — it’s a wonderful break for travelers and locals alike! (^^)v
