Introducing Greenland

Hello, this is Gachako, writer for [Sarukuma].
We’ve introduced loads of parks here on Sarukuma, but aren’t we forgetting this iconic Kumamoto spot…?

Today’s featured destination is located in Midorigaoka, Arao City:
[Greenland]!

Just look at that gate! The excitement is real.
We headed in with the kids just before the busy graduation season hits.

Parking is 500 yen per day, cash only.
Lots fill up fast on event days, so plan to arrive with time to spare.

Buy your free pass at the entrance gate and step inside! (Discount advance tickets are also available — please check the official website for current pricing.)

Wondering whether toddlers really need a free pass, or whether there are enough rides for them to enjoy? Let me say it loud and clear:
“Go with the free pass — every time.”

Throughout the park you’ll find tons of family-friendly touches, including kid-sized restrooms and diaper-changing facilities.

There are 5 nursing rooms across the park, and the ones next to the front gate, inside Branca, and at the Hinata Kids nursing room offer free hot water — a wonderful convenience for parents.

You can bring your own stroller, or rent one for 500 yen per day (suitable for ages 1–2).

There are even attractions babies can ride. The pamphlet you receive at entry includes an easy-to-read chart sorting attractions by age and height.

Greenland’s Top Picks

Headlined by famous rides like NIO and the Orihime & Hikoboshi coaster, Greenland has more attractions than we could ever cover. Since I’m not a fan of thrill rides myself, here’s a roundup of attractions that little ones can enjoy too.

â–¼Good Job Daisakusen (Good Job Mission)

An attraction where kids ride around tackling jobs, from a fire station to a shaved-ice stand. The little scenes are seriously adorable!! You can win collectible pin badges, so the kids kept asking to ride again and again on endless repeat.

â–¼Card Maze “Gururi Mori Adventure”

Charge up Hamu-chan with power as you wander through the maze, then play a card battle game. Each playthrough rewards you with one card to use in the duel.

Just collecting the cards is fun on its own, but win a duel and you’ll score a limited-edition keychain — another endless-repeat magnet. We spent nearly two hours at this single attraction.

â–¼Cosmic Maze

Apologies for the rough photo — but this attraction is an unbelievably Instagram-worthy space that makes you feel like you’re floating through outer space. Since you only need to walk through, anyone of any age can enjoy it.

â–¼Giant 3D Maze

I went in expecting a casual playground-style obstacle course, but this is a seriously high-quality maze packed with hidden mechanisms — I genuinely thought I’d never make it out. For some reason you keep ending up back at the start! How??

After ducking and crawling through clever contraptions and finally reaching the goal, the sense of accomplishment is unreal! It was an incredibly fun attraction.

â–¼Shooting Gallery & Ring Toss

These classic carnival games are also covered by your free pass. You get to keep whatever prize you knock down, so everyone goes all-in. Even after using our pass from open to close, the kids never stopped chanting “I want to come back!!”

For your next spring outing, [Greenland] is well worth the trip!
