Welcome to Kurokami Nishi Park

Hello travelers! I’m Asukarando, a writer for SaruKuma.

Today I’m introducing a hidden local gem located in 1-chome Kurokami, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City
Kurokami Nishi Park.

Tucked into a peaceful residential area just a short walk from National Route 3, Kurokami Nishi Park is a delightful little discovery I want to share with you!

Some renovation work is currently underway in parts of the park, so it’s only going to get more beautiful in the future (^3^)/

The park has three entrances, giving it a wonderfully open and welcoming feel.A handwashing station is conveniently located right in the center of the park.

The restrooms feel a bit dated, but they’re well maintained and kept clean.

There are also some lovely clean benches to rest on (^-^)v

Plenty of trees provide cool, shady spots — perfect for a break on a warm day.

Highlights of Kurokami Nishi Park

A wonderfully quirky pirate-themed swing set! It looks a little surreal, but the kids absolutely love it (*^.^*)

The slide is a tall, wavy one — climbing up was easy, but sliding down took a bit of courage (well… maybe just for me lol)

At first glance I thought it was a seesaw, but it’s actually a spring rider (*^.^*)

Little ones can’t quite reach the ground, but if you give them a gentle push they’ll be giggling away in no time (^-^)v

There’s also an adorable whale-shaped spring rider over here (^^)

A cute, uniquely shaped sandbox is here too (^-^)v
Don’t forget to bring sand toys — they’re a must-have at this park!

Beyond the playground equipment, there’s also a generous open space — perfect for tag, ball games, or just running around freely!

Kurokami Nishi Park is a wonderfully open, family-friendly space packed with charming and unique playground equipment.
