Hello, everyone!

I’m Sunny, a rookie writer for SaruKuma 🐩
I love sharing spots where you can bring both your kids and your furry family members along.

Today, I’m introducing a wonderful little cake shop located in Ichinoseki, Minamiaso Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
《Bairinka》 (pronounced “bai-rin-ka”).

At first glance, you’d never guess this traditional Japanese-style farmhouse is actually a cake shop!

The shop sits just off Route 325!Look for the bright red sign as your landmark.

There’s parking for about 10 cars right in front of the shop.

The restroom is located outside, but they also have diaper-changing facilities and a nursing room—a real plus for traveling families!

The neighboring Fureai Farm offers strawberry picking from December through May—perfect for combining with your visit.

Here’s the shop interior.
Inside this serene, traditional Japanese space, the display case sparkles with cakes that look like little jewels.

There’s also a wonderful selection of baked goods.
You can even order custom gift assortments tailored to your budget—a great souvenir option!
They even sell handcrafted accessories that match the shop’s lovely atmosphere.

You can also dine in—there are 3 tables available.

There’s a nice selection of magazines to flip through, so you can really take your time and relax. They’ve also set out children’s chairs and picture books for the little ones. And here’s the best part—Bairinka is dog-friendly inside the shop!
A cake shop that welcomes pups? That’s a rare find indeed!

Minamiaso is home to plenty of dog runs, so a sweet treat after a day of play sounds absolutely perfect! There’s a drink menu, too.
Local Minamiaso spring water is just 160 yen,
and everything else is 250 yen!
It’s wonderful that they offer drinks suitable for kids as well

Now, what to order?

I had been planning to order 2 or 3 cakes, but…
I realized I only had 1,000 yen in my wallet! 😱
Looks like it’ll have to be one cake and a coffee this time.
A quick heads-up: payment is cash only!Every cake is under 500 yen—incredibly reasonable prices that make this place even more wonderful (^^)
Honestly, they all look so delicious! ☆
After much deliberation, I went with:
Strawberry Tart — 450 yen
Hot Coffee — 250 yen
Oh my—absolutely heavenly! 💕

Sweet, juicy strawberries paired with
fresh whipped cream, custard, and a lovely strawberry sauce hidden inside the tart…

Everything is delicately sweet—nothing overpowering, just gentle, refined flavors.
I could easily have eaten three more! If only I’d brought more cash (+_+)Pudding — 400 yen

I just had to bring something back for my kids,
so I dashed to a nearby convenience store to withdraw more cash 😅The pudding is topped with seasonal fruit.
This time it featured strawberries and La France pears!
Wow—so good! It just melts in your mouth! 💕
I want three more!! (^□^)
For me AND for the kids!

The atmosphere, the cakes, the pudding—everything about this place is wonderful.
If you’re visiting Kumamoto, please add Bairinka to your itinerary!

By the way, I left my jacket behind, so I’m definitely heading back this weekend 😄
Which means more cake for me—lucky! (^^)
