About the Restaurant

Hello, travelers!
This is Mikan, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Today I’m introducing
Horikawa Pizza, a charming pizzeria located in
Harumizu, Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The exterior combines sleek black with warm wood tones.
It’s exactly my style — so stylish and inviting!
Just walking up makes you excited to step inside!

Parking is available right behind the shop!
As you can see in the photo, there’s also a lovely terrace seating area!

For takeout pickups,
there’s a convenient curbside parking spot right in front of the store!

Inside, you’ll find all table seating.

The interior has the same beautifully unified design as the exterior.
It really hits my sweet spot!

With such a calm, classy vibe inside,
I was a bit hesitant about bringing kids…
When I shared this concern with the owner, the answer was wonderful!

“Children are very welcome!”
“Strollers are absolutely fine!”
What a relief to hear those reassuring words!

Yes!
Next time I’m definitely bringing the stroller in ♪

Inside, there’s a beautiful pizza oven
Visible from every seat in the house —
you can actually watch the pizzas being baked right in front of you!

This is one of the highlights of dining here!

Horikawa Special — 1,600 yen
Akaushi (Kumamoto Red Beef) Ragu — 1,500 yen …and more

Side Menu
Salad of the Day — 500 yen
Carrot Rapée — 300 yen
French Fries — 400 yen …and more
Everything is available for takeout!

This time, I ordered the Margherita (1,200 yen) for takeout.
There are also seasonal specials, so be sure to check the in-store menu!

The Margherita Pizza
It’s served piping hot and fresh from the oven when you pick it up!

I can only imagine how incredible it must taste right out of the oven.
But today was takeout, so I held myself back (lol).

Look at that beautiful char on the crust — only possible with a real wood-fired oven
Generously topped with rich tomato sauce and melted cheese

This is what real pizzeria pizza looks like!
You’d never see this kind of quality at a chain restaurant (lol).

The pizza comes pre-sliced, so all you have to do is open the box and dig in!

Easy to share! So thoughtful!
I was sharing it with mom friends this time,
and quite a bit of time had passed between pickup and eating.
The pizza had cooled down… I was a bit worried, but —

Even cold, it was absolutely delicious!
The whole group of moms had the same reaction!

“Why is the cheese still so good even when it’s cold?!”
“The crust is amazing too!”
A storm of compliments! Round of applause!

I felt so proud bringing it (blushing).
I really want everyone reading this article to try it for themselves!

The shop also sells homemade jams and other goodies in addition to pizza!
