Today I’m taking you to Nishi-Kogai-machi, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, to a wonderful little spot called
“Tokumitsuya Tea Shop”.

This is a Japanese tea shop with a charming little café space 🍵*
You’ll find it tucked along the Kogai-machi Shopping Street!

It’s an old-school shotengai (covered shopping street) lined with traditional greengrocers and family-run stores 🍆🍅🌽 — a slice of authentic local Kumamoto life.

The shop itself doesn’t have parking, but there’s a partner parking lot for the shopping street right next door 🚙=꒱‧*

Rebuilt after the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, the building is just over a year old and feels bright and welcoming 🏠

Inside, you’ll find a beautiful display of locally produced Japanese teas and traditional kyusu (teapots) 🌱

Gift sets are also available — perfect souvenirs to bring home!
