I found a disc of pure happiness, and I just had to share it with all of you 👀

Today I’m introducing a charming spot located in Kasuga, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City:
“Pie Lab feal”

The shop sits directly across from Youme Mart Tasaki.
It’s also close to AEON Town Tasaki, making it the perfect stop while you’re out shopping (^o^)/

It’s tucked right behind [Chinese Kitchen Tocho], another spot we’ve featured here on Sarukuma.

I spotted a mysterious building with bright yellow flags fluttering in the breeze 👀

Wait… is that a warehouse?

Like a Reiwa-era “Yellow Handkerchief of Happiness”
…well, more like happy yellow flags fluttering in welcome ⚑︎⚐︎

Pies worth lining up for?!

When you walk around to the left of the building, you reach the front entrance! There’s a parking lot too.

It’s actually the factory where the pies are made!

You can grab pies to-go right through the open window.
There’s a vending machine too, so you can pick up a drink with your pie — how convenient!

I opened the window and said hello!
While chatting with the friendly staff, I learned that they also have a sister shop on the basement floor (B1) of Sakuramachi Kumamoto. Ah, now that they mention it… (^^)

Here’s the story: a young man fell head-over-heels for pies in Australia… and grew up to become the Pie Uncle…

“I want to bring authentic pies to Japan”
And so, the traveling pie maker began his journey ♪ It’s the kind of tale you could turn into a movie (=^^=)

I took the pies home and warmed them up — heating instructions are included on the package.

First disc of happiness — the Meat Pie, 350 yen.

Golden brown and perfectly tanned!

The pie crust is reasonably thick, flaky but never too light, with a beautifully moist texture.

Even the edges are densely packed with buttery layers — it’s a literal block of deliciousness (´∀｀)

Can you feel the juiciness of the Akaushi (Kumamoto Red Beef) mince? It’s packed in generously — meaty and bold.

The natural sweetness of the onions plays a perfect supporting role.

The crust is different from the meat pie — this apple beauty has fair, pale skin 🍎

Light, thin layers of pastry alternate with stewed apples and creamy custard.
